We were planning on meeting up with our parents in Savannah for my birthday. So, I started looking into vacation rentals like a month ago because my birthday falls on Memorial weekend this year which is usually a pretty big travel weekend.
I finally found a unit that would fit us all and was in budget. Sent the rental agreement off on 3/31 and then didn't hear anything and noticed the checks hadn't been cashed. I got nervous and gave them a call on Friday. They said they hadn't received it which made me more nervous since it had been two weeks. I go home and check the mail and there's the stupid envelope! It was returned to me with a message of "Unit is vacant. Unable to forward." I called yesterday and basically got told the best way is to fax it. No one ever addressed why the thing got returned. So, I use the fax number listed on the rental agreement and I get a message saying the number is no longer in use.
At this point, I'm annoyed. So I scanned it and emailed and said the fax number did not work.
I get an email this morning saying they had received another contract and they have to go on a first come, first serve basis. I was PISSED. I sent them an email asking to confirm their mailing address and fax number since I had tried to mail it off almost THREE WEEKS ago.. and then mentioned the fax number because of the error. Either way, I don't expect a response and I sure as hell don't want to stay in their unit now, but I wanted them to know I'm disappointed and angry and they suck. So now I have to try and find a new place! UGH!
Sorry for the long vent.
all around!
Re: Vacation Vent
Wow, you have every right to be upset. I would be hollerin at someone about that. I understand their policies, but come on! Not even an explanation? No, Im sorry about the mix up, let me see how we can accomidate you? That just plain ol sucks.
Try looking through VRBO.com to find something. Thats where I found the cute little cabin in the Poconos Chris and I go to every year for our dating anniversary/my birthday.
That is pretty ridiculous that they rented it out when the KNEW that you were trying to get your deposit to them. It amazes me that some people stay in business with such a lack of customer service!
Good luck finding another place, though.
Karma will take care of it. :-)
