Wedding Gift Question

So, my best friend is getting married on May 1st, but it is only their immediate families who are invited (10 guests total).  So, naturally, I'm not invited but I still want to get her something as a gift.  They aren't registered and already live together so I don't know that they really need "stuff."  What would you send?  I was thinking a fruit bouquet saying congrats, or a couples massage gift certificate (not sure if the husband would be into that), or something like that.  I don't want to get anything too over the top because she feels bad that I'm not included, so something super nice might be inappropriate.  But I don't want to just send a card.

Do you guys have any ideas??

Re: Wedding Gift Question

  • I think a couple's massage is a great idea, personally.  You're totally on the right track with getting an "experience" gift.

How about a gift card to a nice restaurant so they can celebrate their marriage?  DH and I went out for our one month wedding anniversary just because it all still felt so new then and continuing the celebration was fun.

Or, along the same lines, if you know a B&B they like or an area they like to visit get a gift card there.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Oooh those are all good ideas, thanks!  I do know that there are a couple of restuarants in their town that they love... now I just have to figure out what they are called!  Time for Google to work its magic :)
  • One of the best wedding gifts we got was to bedandbreakfast.com. We were able to book a trip anywhere in their network (pretty big network). We ended up going to Newport for the Taste of Rhode Island weekend. It was one of the best weekend trips we've been on!

Ooo, I've never heard of this.  Will have to keep it in mind!

  • We were given a bunch of gift cards to restaurants at one of our wedding showers.  We loved them.  It gave us reasons to keep going out on dates which was harder to think about doing once we got married.

  • Are they going on a honeymoon?  You could get them a couples massage there or a bottle of champagne sent to their room!
  • No honeymoon.  But that is a good idea for their wedding night in the hotel!
