Newlywed weight poll

Well, ladies. It's been about 10 months for most of us now. Statistics show newlyweds gain approx 10-15 lbs over their wedding weight in the first year.

How has it been for you?

Re: Newlywed weight poll

  • It was up to 5, but being sick for a straight week may have taken care of that.  When I'm finally feeling better, I'll head to the gym to weigh myself and find out, but my clothes are magically fitting again.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I would say 5-10... I usually note my weight as a 5 lb range since it fluctuates so much,  so I'm not sure what my exact weight was  at the wedding.   2 more months... surely I can gain 10 more lbs by then!
  • I haven't stepped on a scale since May! But judging by my general appearance and by my clothes, I'd say I gained a good ten. Though I think that ten was gained back by August and I just leveled out. I made the mistake of doing a low carb diet for two months pre-wedding, and the weight came back with a vengeance.

  • I got up to about 10 lbs over my normal, but now I'm back down. Prewedding though I was 5ish lbs below my normal weight, so I guess I've fluctuated about 15 lbs total.

  • lol I gained 28lbs! But obviously for a reason. I'm still 8lbs heavier than I was when we got married, though.

haha great idea. I think I'm putting myself on a peanut butter diet. I go through a jar in like a week and a half. It's bad.

  • I actually weigh the same amount now as I did right before our wedding. I lost a few pounds before the wedding, then gained it back, and now I'm really trying to work out and eat better. I feel like I have more time to concentrate on losing weight now that I'm not planning a wedding or writing thank you cards or all those fantastic things

  • Ugh. I'm in the 15 range.

I'm actually probably around where we were when we got engaged. 6 months before the wedding we were going to the gym ALL. THE. TIME. It stopped pretty much the day of my bachelorette party.

I think I gained most of the weight in the 3-6 months post-Honeymoon (aka, just before and during Christmas). It's just stuck around these extra four months.

However, now that this awful cold is finally calming down, I'm starting to work out again. I've also got 3-Day walk training starting to ramp up (more/longer walks) so that should help. And this whole "being a vegetarian" thing for the past six weeks has helped too!

  • I got as high as 12 pounds above "wedding weight" (which is about 5 pounds below my "normal" weight).  I have very recently gotten my butt in gear and lost 4 pounds from that high point.

I did not go to the gym ONCE between June and January. It was a glorious glorious hiatus, but we are back on track now.

I'd love to lose about 10 more pounds, but I'm not sure that is possible given my lifestyle and busy schedule.

  • I don't own a scale, partially for this reason. I've probably gone up about 10lbs or so, not too sure. Drinking a lot of Coke while studying isn't helping.

  • I am, unfortunately, pretty much the exact same weight.

  • Ugh... I'm definitely there.  I lost about 15 pounds in the 3 months before the wedding... I've gained it all back.  I dont think losing all 15 is really very attainable for me since I was barely eating the last few weeks before the wedding, I wasn't even trying to but I was so busy, it just happened and I lost 6 pounds in about 10 days.  I think I gained that weight back during the HM.  Since then it has all steadily crept back on, most likely due to the fact that there has been very sporadic gym attendance and lots of desserts/actual cooking in my world.  I'm working on losing at least 5 right now so my clothes fit better and my BM's dress for my sister's wedding looks better at the end of May.
  • Technically, I am up about 15-20 but I blame the child.  Pre-pg, I was about up about 5.

  • Pre-pg, I was up 5 from my wedding weight. Now, I'm up 45 from my wedding weight. I think I may have the record.

  • Pre-wedding I worked out like crazy. Ever since the wedding I've done virtually nothing. I'm up about 8-10 pounds from my wedding weight. Honeymoon and into the summer I got up to 15 pounds up from WW, but have leveled off and began the slow decent into normalcy, mostly because I have toned down my bad eating habits.

  • I have lost 5. But, I did start working out a couple weeks ago. Even before that though I hadn't gained any since the wedding.

  • I am at least 10 pounds overweight, and by 10, I mean 20.

See the Mexican food thread for the contributing factor to this. I could have given a fatty food rec for any type of cuisine. I LOVE me some food :)

This exactly...we're tied v. If that makes you feel better? Not looking forward to this weeks appointment either. Once baby comes and after I get the OK, I plan to get back on a regular workout schedule to get back to wedding weight if not less.

You're insane. You look so teeny in your blog pics. Ugh. I forgot to tell you - I searched all over my local Target for that black dress and couldn't find it. What section was it in?

  • I'm pretty close to the same.  I go up/down 2lbs daily so it just depends when I weigh myself.  I have been trying to eat a little better (thanks chrissy).

  • I'm up four.  I was up eight, but I've been "dieting" for a little over a week.  And by diet I mean trying not to be such a pig and occasionally eating my vegetables.

I have a good excuse though.  I slipped a disc in August and it herniated in January.  I'm trying to put off the inevitable surgery until school gets out, but that means no erm.. vigorous activities.  I'm not even allowed to jog (not that I necessarily would if I could, but I never thought I'd hear a doc say that).

  • Well, I lost 30 pounds over a year for the wedding and have gained back about 10 so I'm still net -20.  I'd like to lose the 10 again, of course, but it's grad school.  These things happen.
  • I'm up 30 as my my Dr appointment this week..but my EDD is tommorrow..and this baby just doesn't want to come out! Ive worked out this whole pregnancy though so hoping i get most of the weight off by July to atleast fell ok in a bathing suit by July 4th!!!
