Hello! I am hoping you ladies can help me. DH and I are going to NC this summer. He is from there and his family is still there, but I have never been. He told me to find things that I would want to do, but I haven't had much luck looking on the internet. We are willing to drive and pretty much go anywhere, what are some things that you would suggest that we do or see?
Thanks!

Re: NC question
You could come see me! I'm in Meck. county! haha jk!
Well... you're only about 2 hours to Asheville and all the fun goodness there (Biltmore House... J Crew outlet.. haha)
You're about 3.5-4 hours to Wilmington... lots of beach and touristy stuff
Charlotte has lots to offer too.... good shopping... great food... ect.
What kind of stuff are you interested in? That might give people a bit better idea what you're looking to take in....
If you're looking for a romantic get-a-way... that makes me think mountains or beach... you can get rooms in some awesome bed and breakfasts in downtown Wilmington... they are walking distance to all kinds of shops and restaurants and on the river front which is really pretty. Or you can always get a nice little cottage in the mountains- like Blowing Rock or Asheville.
This site can give you all sorts of ideas :-) www.visitnc.com
Both Wilmington and Asheville have great restaurants and scenic areas. The downtown Wilmington area is cute with nice restaurants, the riverfront and shops. The beaches near Wilmington are nice to visit, there's an old fort near it (Ft. Fisher), and there is a lake area you might like walking around (there are some ugly areas of town but the rest makes up for it). Asheville has a nice downtown area, I wish I'd been able to spend more time in it.
I would check out Asheville.
If you like wine there are also some good vineyards in NC. The restaurant at Shelton is really good, but I am not sure how far that is from Charlotte.
