Housewarming Party (receipes)

Ok we are having our Housewarming party next weekend and I want to do heavy apps. Any and all easy receipes would be great. I say easy because I plan to make tons of different apps. Anything would be a big help. I also plan to look on the FB pages as well. There will be between 30-40 people.

Re: Housewarming Party (receipes)

  • Apps = appetizers?

The easiest and one of the tastiest in my mind is BBQ meatballs . Buy frozen meatballs and your favorite BBQ sauce at the grocery store.  Microwave meatballs for about 2 minutes, then put in a crock pot with the bbq sauce until warm.  Serve warm, with toothpicks.

From the facebook page: the avacado feta salsa and addictive salsa dip are ALWAYS requested when the office has a pot-luck.

    See Foto's puppy chow recipe.

  • We have potluck days at work a lot and the biggest hit is buffalo chicken dip.  It's several 6-8 ingredients, but you just pile them in a crock pot and let it melt together - super easy!  If you haven't heard of it, it's basically shredded chicken (in a can, no prep here), cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, hot sauce, and ranch dressing.  Sounds good already, right?  If it sounds good and you want the exact recipie, let me know and I'll post it.

If it were me, I'd also put out veggies and dip because that's super easy and it's cold so you don't have to worry about it staying warm.

Another cold dish that I LOVE are pickle wraps... whole dill pickles wrapped in ham that had cream cheese spread on it.  It takes some effort before hand, but they can be made in advance - just wrap them in foil whole and cut them into bite-sizes right before the party.

  • Spinach Artichoke Dip is always a big hit.  Here's the recipe:

    1 pkg. frozen spinach thawed
    1 jar marinated artichokes, chopped
    8 oz. Philly cream cheese
    8 oz. sour cream
    3/4 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
8 oz. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    1/2 onion finely chopped
    1 stick butter
    red pepper flakes to taste
Saute onions in butter, adding ingredients while mixing and blending well after each addition. Add ingredients in this order: Spinach, Cream Cheese, Sour Cream, Parmesan Cheese, Artichoke Hearts, Crushed Red Pepper Flakes.

Remove from heat and put in crocks or microwave dish. Top with Monterey Jack Cheese and melt.

Serve in a sourdough bread bowl by hollowing out the bowl and cutting the excess for dipping!

  • Buffalo Chicken Dip!  On the FB recipe page!  Summer Sausage and Cheese Platter, BBQ meatballs, and choc chip cookies!
  • Thanks for all the ideas! The Meatballs are already on the list and the buffalo dip is a must when we have parties now or a few people refuse to show up if I dont make it lol. :) I think I will have to make the salsa dip from the FB page as well. Fruit and veggie tray is now on the list as well.

I love pickles! Do you just spread the cream chees on the ham and wrap the pickle with the ham? Then cut them into bitesize pieces?

  • You should totally do an early Cinco de Mayo party and have Mexican food!  Taquitos, sopes, gorditas, salsa/guacamole/dip, agua fresca de sandia or or cucumber, margaritas, and beer.  It's a finger food menu, and everyone will leave full and happy!
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • One of my favorites is melon (cantaloupe or honeydew) wrapped in prosciutto.  Easy as it is, I don't have a specific recipe: you just wrap slices of prosciutto around diced melon and secure with a festive toothpick.

GOOD IDEA!!!!! we are already having Dias mio (however you spell it). It's a meat I get at the mexican market down the street and throw it on the grill for a couple minutes and put it on corn tortillas with tomatillo sauce and Guacamole.

Yep!  This sounds crazy, but Buddig ham works great!  You know, the super cheap meat pre-packaged in those little bags?  I usually use 3 slices of ham per pickle (I hope this makes sense... 2 slices that overlap just a little, then 1 more right in the middle over the other 2).  Dry the ham a little with a paper towel to help the cream cheese stick.  You'll need more than just a thin layer, but it's up to you how much cream cheese.  I say the more the better!  Be sure it's room temp. before trying to spread it though.  Then wrap the pickle up and slice it (around 1/4 inch thick or so works great).  The butt ends aren't as pretty, so you get to eat those as you go.  Pile the rest on a plate and serve! :)
