Our anniversary is around the corner

I was sitting here trying to think of what to get Jason for our anniversary.  Since the baby is due beginning of August and we have been so focused on getting things ready for her I haven't even thought about what to get him.  What are you ladies doing/getting for your husbands for your anniversary?

Re: Our anniversary is around the corner

  • Apparently I'm getting Mike a tattoo when he comes to visit. It'll be early, as he's coming Memorial Day weekend, but he says to call it his birthday and anniversary gift all rolled into one. This will be his first tattoo. He's mocked me for years about having them, and now he's getting a doozy that takes up his entire rib cage.

As for doing, I'll probably have dinner with my girlfriends to commemorate the occasion.

  • We are going to the Twins game.  It will be just under 3 weeks before my due date so we're kind of limited in terms of travel but we both really like going to games and are excited to see the new stadium.  It also happens to be against his other favorite team (Braves) so that makes it better.

  • As far as gifts I dont know what we are doing -- probably just something small.  We are going to St Louis for the weekend.  We'll be in Texas the week before for my sister's wedding and have summer vacation plans for August so we needed a quick/cheap trip.  We're going to go a Cardinals game and not sure what else.
  • No clue! I want to stick with something paper but am having a hard time.

We know for sure we are going to the bakery that made the pastry dessert at our wedding for breakfast.  Then we might go golfing or biking on some trails.

  • Not sure yet and since we'll have a baby, we have to see if one of the grandma's will baby-sit for us to go out. Trying to stick with the traditional paper, but I was also thinking of a GPS (modern twist on paper?) for when we go on road trips.

  • I got tickets to a concert that is 3 days before our anniversary. He got tickets to a baseball game. We are doing those things together, but we are also taking a vacation to Savannah a week after our anniversary.

  • I was just thinking about this myself.  I did "sponsor" the flowers in our church for our anniversary, so that is 1 thing special I decided I wanted to do every year.

Im thinking of cooking dinner similar to what we had at our reception and light our unity candle maybe and just have a romantic dinner/evening at home and watch our ceremony dvd and look back at pictures, etc.

I thought maybe we could go out to dinner maybe the night before or something too.  The weekend after our anniversary we are going to the beach from Thursday to Monday with his family in Wildwood, NJ.. they are there for a week but we are only taking a long weekend.. I told him I wanted the last day to ourselves before we went home to go to Ocean City, MD and spend the day doing what we wanted. :)

Otherwise, I dont think we'll get gifts or do anything special otherwise.. but we have to talk about it.  Maybe a card, but I dont know about anything else..

  • Welp since we are closing on our house in less than 12 hours, we probably won't be getting each other anything.  We are psyched about the house and it's a pretty big "gift" to each other!

In terms of doing, I'm sure we'll do something fun and outdoorsy.

If I stick with something along the lines of a paper theme, I've thought about those cool pictures you can get that is just the black/white shadow type picture.  I don't know how to describe it, other than it looks pretty cool.  It is where the subject is all black or all white and the background is the opposite.  I just tried googling it so I could provide a link but of course I'm completely brain dead at this point.  I was thinking about having one of my b-pics turned into that.

  • We are wanting to take a short trip somewhere.  Tentatively thinking of Niagra Falls since he has never been there and it is within driving distance so that will keep the costs down, but nothing is carved in stone yet.

We went to Niagara Falls on our honeymoon.  So. Much. Fun!  We loved it!  Definitely get the "package" that includes the boat ride past the falls, walking behind some falls, the Imax movie, unlimited trolley rides and something else.  It's only like $40 a person (I think) and they don't expire so you can do different things on different days (this is on the American side, BTW).  We totally had a blast!

  • We have decided that we want to take a special trip each year for our anniversary. Once we have kids, we'll leave them with the grandparents.

We have a lot of other international trips going on this year (we were in Asia in January, we're going to Costa Rica in May, and to Israel in August for a friend's wedding) so we decided to stay fairly close to home for our anniversary. We are going up to Door County, Wisconsin and staying in a bed & breakfast for the weekend. We might go wine tasting, antique shopping, bike riding, etc. We're looking forward to it!

We probably won't do big gifts, but I hope we exchange sappy cards.
