Re: ?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Jack was 2 months on Monday

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? J had his 2mo appt on Monday - he was 24.75" and 12.5lb, he's a tall skinny guy.  He had to get a couple shots  :( but is healthy and reaching "milestones"

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? haven't really worked out a plan to start introducing him to daycare but that will happen pretty soon.  We went down to turn in some paperwork and he slept through the whole thing.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? our ped said sunblock was ok (even now) but the safer alternative is just to stay out of the sun or stay covered up.  she also gave the ok for some swimming.  Jack loves the water (baths, showers) so we were wondering when we could take him to the pool at our gym.  They keep the place very well ventilated and have a warm "training" pool.  We personally will probably wait at least another month just to give him some time to really notice his surroundings a bit more.

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby? We both always wanted children.  We didn't really have a timeline but I knew there could be some delay b/c of my history of annovulation and hormonal issues.  I did think I would only use natural type methods (diet, herbs, vitamins, acupuncture) for about 2 years but it didn't come to that.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members? Physically he's a perfect mix of both of us.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it? We will be splurging on a new car for DH in the coming months.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO? we do lots of things in dialy life (no paper towels/napkins), eat local/organic/grow our own, etc.  and that carries into baby related choices - cloth diapered from the start, vintage decor in his room, repurposed furniture, will feed him the same good foods we eat.

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"? it's probably easier for me since I'm not back to work yet - I look forward to reading tips from those that are working.

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and really look forward to it.  As a couple we still maintain the same social life - happy hours, dinner parties (we'll see how that changes when Jack is older and doesn't just happily sleep in a baby carrier).  Last weekend we went away with my parents and it was great - they watched Jack while we went out for a little while - it made us realize we should make plans and do that a little more (again, especially now while he sleeps so much).

BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers, link to your chart!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 13 days old

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? We've adapted well to our new routines and A has been a very easy baby so far.  My only gripe is feeling antsy about being cooped up indoors all day.  I'm trying to get out for errands while DH cares for the baby, but it's still an adjustment.  Can't wait for him to hit the one month mark and for my body to feel healed... there are so many things I want to do with my little man!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 1 month for us both

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? Some babies, like mine, get infant acne... and it takes some time to heal.  So if you're thinking about newborn photos, do them before the attack hits!

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby? We wanted to have a year together as a married couple and take 3 big trips together before TTC.  We have always been eager to have a child, but once we accomplished those things, we def felt ready to add #3.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members? My straight teeth, DH's perfect vision, and both our work ethics.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it? Not really, but I consider the big, brand new baby purchases "splurges" just because they were so pricey (even on sale, and even though they're necessities).  It was nearly $1K just for the stroller, convertible car seat, crib and mattress, and breast pump.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO? Cloth diapering, breast feeding, and shopping second hand.  We also try to eat organic as much as our budget allows.

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"?  I take two showers a day and try to still spend time with my gfs -- they've been great about coming over or meeting me near my house for a quick outing.  When I'm recovered, I hope to return to my regular workouts and resume part-time work when A's 6 months old.  And date nights with DH will (hopefully) be priorities!

    Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    She's 12 weeks 2 days today...will be 3 months old on Sunday.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

My hair started falling out these week...like clockwork! 12 weeks post partum exactly.  I haven't had any hair in my comb or shower drain since I got pregnant!  Isn't that crazy!  My hair hasn't been this thick since I was in high school.  Well, we'll see now...it's not excessive hair loss or anything, but I am sure it will thin back out again.

Libby and I had a "mommy and me" portrait session in a local park that is in full bloom with azaleas.  Libby was not too into it...she didn't fuss, but she yawned the entire time and never made good eye contact with the camera.  I guess it's true what they say...fresh air makes babies tired! (She had only been awake an hour when we had the session...usually she's wide awake at that time when we're at home)!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Next up is Libby's 4 month appt. in May.  Nothing for me until August (annual exam).

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

Babies can learn so quickly.  Libby is cup feeding now like a champ!  See a video clip here of Joseph giving her milk in a cup:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c48ZXmmkKxg

Just this week Libby has learned how to hold onto her Sophie the Giraffe Teether and get it into her mouth.  I showed her how to do this on Sunday and by Tuesday she was doing it herself!  Too cute!  Until now she's only been able to get hands in her mouth...and she does it all the time...both at the same time!

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?

I hit 34 and something came over me.  Baby rabies!  Seriously.  It hit me like a ton of bricks.  Somehow I got over my fear of losing myself by becoming a mother.  I never really had this strong desire to become a mother until then.  Now, I cannot imagine my life without Libby.  It's really been a personally transformative process for me.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?

Libby has J's skin tone, nose, long limbs. fingers and toes.  She has my brow, eyes, lips and chin and chubby thighs!  She has a wicked sense of humor like her dad!  And a sweet, introspective side that's kind of like me.  Her eyes are a steely gray-brown color sort of like my father's and J's mother.  She also seems to have a strong sense of musicality, even at her young age...she loves music!

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?

We've kept things very reasonable, but I'd say a $350 5x7 cotton and silk rug for her nursery was a bit of splurge.  It was the only one I liked.  Sadly, it's a dirt magnet even though we don't wear shoes in her room I've got a find a better way to keep it clean!  The white design on it is looking a little dingy.

I also want to get a woven wrap carrier but they are $$$!  I am having a hard time justifying $150 for a piece of cloth...so I hope I can find a gently used one in my size.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?

We're doing a lot eco-friendly things...breastfeeding, cloth diapers and wipes, second hand clothing and baby items like plastic toys.  When we do get new toys I look for those made from organic and sustanible materials and produced without chemicals, etc.  All of Libby's toiletries are organic and eco-friendly... and we're only doing homeopathic treatments for her colic and teething.  We use 7th Generation detergent on her dipes, wipes and clothing and since the weather's been nice I dry lots of things on the clothesline these days.  Also, since we've decided not to put her daycare until after she's 1, that's eco-friendly too since the daycare we had chosen wouldn't do CDs and it would also be a commute to/from it each day meaning additional gas and emissions.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing to have success TTCing?

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"?

Good question!  Waiting to read the replies on this.  Now that the first three months of mommyhood are nearly behind me I feel like I am coping better.  I am definitely getting more sleep and more sex (TMI, but there you have it).

I do want to start exercising again on a regular basis.  Luckily, the treadmill doesn't bother Libby, so I can get her down for a nap and jump on it without it waking her...now I've just got to do it!  I might try in the evenings after she goes down for a nap or maybe in the mornings before work (I get up around 4:30-5:00 a.m. and need to be at work by 7 a.m. but it's only a 10 minute commute).

I will say that being able to Nest/Bump has preserved my sanity this past weeks and months...it's something I do just for me!

Sneak peeks from our photo session today

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 5 months, 1.5 weeks

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  He recognizes certain songs now - like the theme songs to Phineas and Ferb and The Gilmore Girls  LOL... and he gets upset when he can't see one of us... started eating squash this week (yesterday) - first thing since just the rice cereal.

I'm still trying to get AF back to normal.  It's been weird again this month.  I'm also on a bunch of new medications.  Found out the lump in my breast is really in the skin tissue, not in the breast tissue and the surgeon just thinks it's an infected cyst.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  6 month well visit & shots

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?   that sometimes the baby just needs to cry

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby? My age - I didn't want to wait any longer b/c I figured we'd have to go IVF

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?  Everyone says he looks like me.  My mom says he has DH's chin.  He has both parts of our personalities though.  And I think he's got a red hue to his hair, which my grandfather had.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?  The bathing suit and hat for the summer... the stroller is going to be a splurge... the crib and changing table/dresser were splurges, and the rocker/glider was a splurge (but my mom bought that, and my grandmother bought the crib, so I don't know if that counts)

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?   I'm planning on making a lot of the baby food, and I use as few wipes as possble.

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"?  I have NO idea.  Sometimes when I'm at work, I feel like something other than Billy's mom, but most of the time, that's what I am.

Next up is Libby's 4 month appt. in May.  Nothing for me until August (annual exam).

I'm confused about this.  You had Libby in January, so had your 6 week visit or so in Feb/March.   Did yours include an internal?  Mine did, so I thought I didn't need to go back for my annual exam until a year from that 6 wk visit?

maybe all care providers are different?  Mine say the same as what you just explained - but I know my friend went in like 8 weeks PP b/c her doctor was like Lori's.  I thought I remembered hearing they shouldn't be done that soon because of a strong possibility of false positives (or negatives.... can't remember)

  • thanks for taking this back up while Lisa's away :)

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

a little over 5 months 1 week now

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

feeling frustrated... we started cup feeding miss A and while she took it well initially, she is now not wanting anything to do w/it now :( i don't know what we should do... we can't afford for me to stay at home like this much longer so i have to go back to work next month and i don't want her starving all day :( we did another trial while DH was home the other day...i fed her on sunday at 9:45am before church and then from then on until 8pm she took 4-5 oz from a bottle from DH... it's better than nothing but i so wish she's take the cup again :(

in better news, she's able to tripod now :) she also found her feet so she is constantly grabbing them while nursing now.  she's also sleeping about 8 hrs straight now (with me doing a dream feed with her around 11pm before i go to bed)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

next month for vaccines and well baby check up

i have an appt next week w/the urologist to get this cyst checked out that cropped up during my PG. i am hoping it's nothing to worry about

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

if you are flying with a child over 2 that has to have his/her own seat, you have to use a car seat for them on board the plane! (or a special restraint made just for planes)

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?

we were sure about timing but everyone kept saying if you wait until the time is right it'll never happen... we wanted two kids and wanted to have them both before i turned 35 so that factored into it.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?

she has the longest eyelashes like DH :) she's also taller like him but i think her long fingers and big feet are from me

everyone in my family thinks she looks like DH but a lot of people say she looks just like me...so I'm not sure... maybe she looks like both of us? :)

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?

anything we buy new i kind of consider a splurge b/c we buy almost everything secondhand...though i don't think anything was over $150, even the breast pump.

the biggest splurge for us was the professional photographer and "belly to bebe" package we got for birth to 1 year.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?

we've always been pretty green...we recycle everything and use very few disposable products.

with DD we use cloth diapers and wipes and get nearly all her clothes secondhand.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing to have success TTCing?

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"?

i still struggle w/this but now that she is sleeping better i usually start nursing her around 9-9:30pm and she is done and asleep by about 10-11pm...after that i stay up an hour or so to have "me time" mostly catching up on posts here, looking for deals on baby related items that we need, etc.

i also try to carve out time while she is napping to bake too since that is what i love to do. it's hard though b/c i usually just get things together...i don't want to run the mixer and risk waking her LOL

i am trying to get out with friends too but usually that is w/her b/c we don't really have anyone around to help us w/her and it's not really worth getting a sitter at this point (the person who watches her while i work lives 45 min away so it's not worth it to have her sit for us for just an hour or two)

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    I am 26 weeks, 3 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

I already starting to feel soooo big and tight (and itchy belly!), and I'm scared of that.  I have so long to go yet!

My sister came over last weekend and painted his room, so now we just wait for furniture!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

May 3rd for 28 weeks appointment

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    imageMrsNJSwimmer:

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?   that sometimes the baby just needs to cry

I like this, but for me!  Sometimes I just need to cry in pregnancy!  I usually feel better after about 5 minutes of a good cry almost daily after work.  I just get so overwhelmed by it all (the good and the bad) and crying it out helps me feel release.

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?

I have always wanted to be a mother when the time was right.  Since we had lived together for two years already before getting married, and the fact that I'm 33 and he's 38, we thought....no time like the present!  We'd probably like to have 2, and I rather not be pushing 40 for the second one, so we thought we'd better get going.  We both have good jobs, a big enough house in an awesome neighborhood/good school district, and we both felt emotionally ready (as much as you can ever be!).

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?

I'd love it if our child was musical, like me, but also more practical, like Dan.  Physically, Dan and I have similar coloring, so I think that's a given.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?

The stroller (Uppababy Vista) was quite a splurge!  But we really wanted a kick-ass stroller that we both loved.  Other than that, we're not buying too much until after baby showers next month, so we'll see then, I guess!  I have a feeling I'm going to splurge on a Medela Freestyle pump for myself.....all my friends say it's worth it for when I go back to work.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?

I really like to CD and plan on trying it.  I'm not making a strong commitment to it yet, as I'm kind of worried about doing it when I go back to work full-time.  But I really like to be successful with it, so I'm going to give it a shot.

Also, we've already started switching over to more eco-friendly cleaning products in our house, mostly because I'm worried about too many chemicals and baby.

Did you hear this from a specific airline Jaime? We've been flying with the kids since Tia was 2 months old and take probably 10 trips a year(40-50 flights) and have never 'had' to use a car seat. Since we fly free, ever since the kids were around 1 they've had their own seats and no one has ever mentioned this to us. In fact we were told once when Hani was just over 2 that we couldn't use her car seat on the plane and ended up having to gate check it. I'm def gonna have to check American's policy on this because we never use them and if we're supposed to I need to get on that!  Thanks for posting about this!

a good friend of ours told me this when they came to visit w/their 3 y/o child! i was surprised to hear it....but i'm sure it varies from airline to airline...he said that it was with American and that they've asked several different people each time they travel and have had to bring the convertible car seat each time... LMK what you find out!

oops, totally mis-read this.  I thought she was saying you shouldn't have to have one again until 1 year from when you had your last internal (probably early pregnancy for most women).

I didn't have one during early pregnancy but would have been due around the first of the year (in the meantime the recomendation changed to every 2 years for women my age).  I did end up getting an one around 34 weeks, including STD check, just in case anyone gave us grief about refusing the eye ointment.

I will not plan to go again until January 2011 (I'm still going every year anyways).

My friend's doctor had a strange schedule.  She had an internal during her "confirm pregnancy" appt at 6ish weeks.  Then the reason we got on this topic is because she had to go to 3 PP appts: 2, 6, and 8 weeks (the 8 week was prescheduled and she didn't have any health concerns, this is standard apparently).  When she asked me when my 8week PP check up was she was suprised to learn that isn't the norm.

in better news, she's able to tripod now :) she also found her feet so she is constantly grabbing them while nursing now.  she's also sleeping about 8 hrs straight now (with me doing a dream feed with her around 11pm before i go to bed)

how do you work changing diapers for her long stretch?  Jack sleeps 7-8 hours and he's not leaking (yet) and the wet diaper obviously doesn't bug him but I feel bad.  By morning the diaper is very, very wet.

  • Yay! my first weekly check-in :)

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 32W4D

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling great! Just finished our 3-part childbirth class series ;0)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Looking forward to our Dr's appt. tomorrow where we will find out the position of the baby and his weight.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby? We've always wanted kids but after we got married, we wanted to enjoy being newlyweds and travel together. After traveling to 3 different countries and numerous other trips, we decided it was the right time to start a family.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members? I hope he has a good combination of both of us :)

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it? We were lucky enough to get some of the big ticket items from my brother, so we were able to splurge on a nice modern crib for our lil one.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO? Yes, we usually do what we can in our household. Recycle and reuse everything- i'm a pack rat b/c of this. For our lil one, we want to implement a hybrid diapering system, planning to breastfeed, using eco-friendly and organic products as much as possible.

Libby's is too...I put her in a Thirsties Duo Diaper with its inserts (microfiber + cotton/hemp) with an additional Thirsties hemp insert.  She's in it from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. and it's usually soaked too, but she doesn't leak.  She does get a little red on her upper thighs which makes me feel bad, but when I change her at 5 a.m. I put CA babies calendula cream on it and change her into a prefold with a Thirsties cover and it clears up by her next diaper change around 8 a.m.

I'm lucky b/c she isn't a big wetter....don't get me wrong, her diaper is soaking wet through and through by the time she gets up but no leaks! overnight I usually put her in either a goodmama w/thirsties duo cover or a BG organic AIO (she can last in either for about 10-12 hrs w/o leaks if she happens to sleep longer).  her skin doesn't seem to get red/sensitive from being wet overnight, either.  I prefer the natural fibers but if you don't like the idea of the wetness being on him you can switch to a synthetic like the BG 3.0's or thirsties AIOs...or use a fleece liner :)

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    10 weeks tomorrow

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Nothing new that I can think of.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Next appt will be next month for more shots.  (We're staggering the shots so she only gets 2 each visit so she'll get 2 more at 3 mos.)

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    Can't think of anything.

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?

I think my clock was ticking for a long time and we just decided that you're never really ready so we should just go for it.  Plus, we have a home, are financially stable, and have good insurance.  And I wanted 2 kids before age 35 (I'm 31 now).

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?

Most people say she looks just like me but then others say she looks like him.  She definitely has my nose and mouth, and I think his eyes and ears.  We're both laid back in some respects but totally not in others but I hope she's laid back (although so far she's definitely not!)

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?

Not really, yet.  But I'm thinking about getting a nice jogging stroller.

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?

We EBF and CD.  We also recycle and try to use eco-friendly products.  I plan to try my hand at making baby food, too.

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"?

Haven't quite figured this one out yet.  But I decided that I want to start running again and am planning to do the Rock N Roll Las Vegas 1/2 marathon in December.  I think training will help me get back to myself.  And tonight I went out for happy hour with a couple friends from work - it's so nice to get away for a few hours by myself but I don't get the chance often enough.

B & I haven't had a proper date night (other than a wedding, which doesn't really count) since Kaya was born but my friend offered to babysit this weekend so perhaps we can go to dinner and a movie or something.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  Ashton is 8 months!!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Things here are good. I have been sick (sore throat..not sure why since that is my only symptom). Ashton is great though.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?   I am thinking about getting Ashton the flu shot this month.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?  I really thought Ashton would skip crawling and he is about to prove me wrong. He has went from just sitting to scooting/moving all over the place.

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?  I was just ready and it was the next step in our lives.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?  Physical traits of mine are my eyes, high forehead and my lips. Personality traits he is curious and energetic.  Physical traits of Adam's are ears, long arms and long torso oh and he has the most moving feet of a baby I've ever seen so that has to come from Adam (super star soccer player). Personality traits would be his determination.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it?  My stroller and I basically got everything new

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?   Yes, we use organic food, cleaners, we recycle, still use his baby bath so that we don't waste water in the big tub, we try to cloth diaper when we're home and I make Ashton's baby food and I breastfeed.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing to have success TTCing?

Mamas: How do you balance being a mom, wife and individual?  What do you do to get "back to you"? I don't. I am not an individual right now (only at work) because I don't have time to even take a bath let alone exercise.  I am just learning again how to be a wife to my husband. It is really hard to live somewhere without any help. It has gotten easier as Ashton has gotten older. Adam has become more involved so I am hoping to get in some exercise soon.

  • 1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  32w1d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  still dealing with the lightning crotch and the occasional heartburn.

I had my first shower over the weekend and we got most of our big ticket items:) and a bunch a clothes that I am trying to take back:( I just wish people would buy the stuff you registed for b/c that is what I needed/wanted and not just random crap.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?   I had a quick one yesterday and have another one in 2 weeks.  Last u/s on the 19th.

we leave tomorrow on our free babymoon to costa rica:)

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?  baby stuff takes over your house

    (5) What made you decide or know that you were ready to TTC/have a baby?  when we started getting serious in our relationship and moved in together the clock started ticking for me.  Since I was 30 and he was 40 and already had kids we knew we needed to start immediately so we started a few months before our wedding.  But we ended up with fertility issues so 14 cycles later we did IVF.

    (6) What physical or personality traits do you hope or does your LO have that are yours? How about DHs?  Other family members?  I hope he gets my olive complexion, MH eye sight and his blue eyes.  I hope he does not get MH ADD both his other sons have it and I can't deal with them most of the time.

    (7) Have you splurged on anything baby-related? What was it? so far the only things we have bought were the crib/mattress, dresser, and rocking chair.  Most of our big items we received at our baby shower and I still have 2 more showers that I am waiting to see what else we get before we buy anything else. I know we will have to buy the breast pump so that will probably be the only other splurge...i hope

    (8) In honor of Earth Day...are you taking any eco-friendly steps when it comes to preparing for or raising your LO?   we use the clothes line as much as possible while warm, use reusable bags, I plan to breastfeed and we plant/grow a lot of our own veggis

That is why I was wondering - I knew you liked natural fabrics.  Good to know... and thanks Lori for your input too.

I usually don't really plan ahead and just let him fall asleep in whatever combo he has on at the time - usually a prefold and cover and change him whenever he eats at night.  For a few weeks now he has been sleeping 6-7 hour stretches.  He has leaked once recently (I think that was user error on the part of my husband) but it made me give more thought to establishing a night time diaper combo.

He is only 12.5lb as of last week's appointment so I really had not started using the pockets/aio too much.   The BGs look pretty good on him this week (better than the FB smalls) so maybe I will try that.  The Goodmama diapers look HUGE on him but I'm sure that would be a something I should be trying soon.  I like how absorbent the BG organic AIO is but he seems so wet - I guess I shouldn't worry unless he starts showing signs of redness or something...

I just went to the local CD store today and bought another BG organic and some pockets and b/c it's Earth Day I got a free Econobum cover and insert.  Not something I would normally buy but YAY for free stuff.
