The first ultrasound was a success! Baby is measuring at 12 weeks 6 days, so my due date has changed to 10/27. Heart rate of 160. The sonographer asked if we wanted her guess as to the sex, and after she made us promise we wouldn't buy anything yet, she thinks it's a boy.
NT scan not so successful. Baby was not cooperating and they couldn't get a measurement. Oh darn, I have to go back on Friday so they can try again.
Hearing the heartbeat was amazing! As were the kicks the little guy was throwing out. DH kept asking if I could feel it because it looked like he was trying to kick his way out of me! We saw toes and fingers as well as the brain and bladder.
Sorry for the lack of pictures at the moment! I tried to scan them on the copier that's next to my office, but they aren't coming out very clear. We have a color scanner up front, but I haven't told my office yet. As soon as I tell them I'll scan 2 of them. Definitely the one with the arrow pointing to why the sonographer thinks it's a boy!
In other good news, my blood pressure was excellent today! They usually take it first thing and it's high, but they took it after the ultrasound today and it was perfect.
In not so good news, the scale at the doc's office shows that I've gained 8 lbs. However, my scale at home (I weigh myself the same time every day) says I've gained 4 lbs. I don't think 4lbs in 12 weeks is bad. However, the doc cautioned me to really keep the weight gain under control. I think my clothes would be much tighter if I've really gained 8 lbs, so I'm trying not to worry too much about it.
Re: 1st ultrasound was a success!!!
What an awesome experience it is to see your little bean. I would not be worried about the weight just yet, the bloat in the begining is ridiculous. And yay! for the early gender guess. Do you have a preference? I would listen to the caution of not to buy anything yet since at that early stage the boy and girl parts look very similar.
Yay Yay Yay!
Congratulations on your healthy growing "boy"!

Pregnancy Hypertension - inductions at 39w, I grow big babies: DD was 9 pounds 1 ounce 22 inches, DS was 11 pounds even 22 inches - both vaginal deliveries
No preference from me but DH will be over the moon if it stays a boy. I warned him that at this stage the parts look very similar, and the sonographer wouldn't tell me what her odds of being right are. If it is a boy, then the chinese gender chart was correct!
Omg, October 27th is my birthday and let me tell you - BEST BIRTHDAY DAY EVER. Or at least I think so. My birthday parties always involved costumes or pumpkins or hay rides . . . One time when I was in middle school we took a couple of my friends to see Dracula at a dinner theater the next town over. So nice job giving your kid an awesome birthday.
So glad it went well!
Yay for a successful appointment! My baby is also non-cooperative with giving measurements during u/s so I've had to go back for a 2nd look.
Yay on the positive U/S! I also would not worry about weight gain. I was told to really watch it, so I did, go up and up and up. I did my best, I'll probably still gain 40lbs. OH well!!!
FWIW my sister and I go to the same Dr but both of our NT gender "guesses" (I say guess because she told me she was obligated to say don't pain the room, but that she was positive) were correct, and so was the Chinese Gender chart. You never know!
How exciting!!!!!!!My bday is in October and I love it!
Little baby flip flops keep up the good growing!
