Vent thread

There's some weird epidemic going among my coworkers where they throw in the word "actually" into EVERY. EFFING. SENTENCE. It's getting to the point when I'm talking to them I start doing it. It's driving me batty. I'm actually going to bang my head against my desk if I hear it one more time.

Vents go below.

Re: Vent thread

  • I have a BA in Criminal Justice and a MA in Human Development. I am going back to school for accounting and I need to take College Algebra (I took liberal arts math requirement instead).

I tried to register for classes at community college as credits are cheaper for my generals.  I couldn't register online as I don't have the pre reqs/placement test.  I called and was bounced from registration to admissions. Admissions see no reason why it is not letting me register as I don't have any requirements or tests to take due to prev edu.  I get put back to registration and they are useless.  Will not help and bounce me to another area.  Now I am waiting to hear back from someone that I can indeed just register for the math class.  My guess is they will make me come in.

  • My BCP ran out of refills before my annual appointment (which I've had scheduled for months).  I had to call pharmacy and doctors office multiple times to get a hold-over refill until my appointment.  Then doctor's office rescheduled my appointment, which means, once again, my BCP will run out and I have to go through the whole dance again to get another hold-over refill.  I've been putting off dealing with it, but I must get it settled today/tomorrow.
  • Won't your pharmacy call the doctor for you?
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • Ooh!  I have a good one.  Actually (hee hee) two: TN made me "update" my info before I could post this.  Grrr!

But the one I meant to post about: I have been helping out this organization interview master teachers for participation in a program where we will place interns with them to learn how to teach.  On Monday, the director of the program, who was supposed to meet me at 7:30, was over an hour late.  Today, she didn't show up.  I woke up at 6 for this, packed my different bags for all the places I had to go and drove 45 minutes downtown.  I sat in the lobby and waited for over an hour until some man took pity on me and went to talk to the principal of the school about it.  The principal told him she cancelled the meeting last night and NOBODY CALLED ME ABOUT IT.  So I turned around and went home.  I'm glad to have the extra time this morning, but a wee bit pissed at how I got it.

  • Hopefully, but I'm still dreading this.

OOOOO!  I would be PIIIIISSSSSED.  Nothing is worse than going out of your way for a meeting or errand and not getting the item accomplished.  Especially waking up early and dealing with driving downtown.

  • I would really like to leave work early tomorrow since we will be going OOT and have a 3+ hour drive followed by a 2 1/2 hr. drive the next morning.  But we have our dept.'s annual awards meeting until 4:45 and we have already received several emails about being highly encouraged to attend.  The winners are a surprise but our sr. manager has said that there are a few people on our team that won and I have a suspicion I may be one of them.  So if I'm not, I'll be slightly pissed about the award and being stuck there for 2 hours I could be packing.

And you know that little trick where you blow into a rubber glove to make a balloon? It ends up as a big ball with 5 little bumps on the end. That's basically my feet right now and it is seriously bugging me.

  • I have a very good friend who lately backs out of everything we ask them to (but she still invites us to tons of stuff and we talk all the time so I'm pretty sure its not that she doesnt want to be friends).  But they were supposed to come to Derby with us, she told me today they aren't coming.  They were supposed to go on vacation with us and 2 other couples this summer... the day after I sent out the potential house we were going to rent, she says her H cant get off work and they can't go (after I spent 3 weeks trying to find the perfect 4 bedroom house).  They were supposed to go golfing with us last Saturday, again they backed out at the last minute.  I'm getting really annoyed because I make arrangements to include them and then I have to cancel or change the plans last minute.  I dont get what the problem is as I know its not a money issue and they still want to hang out so long as they plan the event.

I just called and the nurse had already called in and extended the prescription.  So my vent is now a rave for my fabulous doctor's office.  Sorry for ruining the vents thread, Mamie.

Low cash flow?  That would get annoying.

  • Actually, I don't have much to vent about today! LOL.

These other vents annoy me just reading them. Boo.

PS-jealous you're going to the Derby! I have wanted to go for years!

  • I'm a research scientist, so my job consists of writing papers for publication, analyzing data, applying for grants, managing projects, etc. My boss is over-extended, and as a result, I have two papers that have been done and sitting on his desk awaiting review so I can send them out for publication. One has been in this process for over a year while the other has been on his desk for 3 months now. I remind him about once a month and he always says he'll get to it within the next week or month or whenever. He never does. It wasn't a huge issue at my annual review last year because he just wrote that these papers were going to be submitted soon. But now, in thinking about bonuses (determined by number of papers published and grants obtained) and my upcoming annual review, I'm getting more and more annoyed that these papers are still gathering dust on his desk and I'm not getting the publications I need to get a bonus or a stellar review. On top of that, I hate coming in to work these days because my back is killing me! Vent over.

Its definitely something you should go to once in your lifetime -- its such a fun event.  Working here however puts a slight damper on the event but its still good.
