ah the joys of public transportation

My bus just broke down on the off ramp. Luckily there was another bus right behind that at least took us to the next stop. If DH weren't home right now though and available to pick me up not sure what I would do as that was the last of my bus for the day! And now it's starting to rain :P
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: ah the joys of public transportation

  • Poor Rock!  I hope the rest of your evening goes better.
  • Bummer. It is annoying when public transit breaks down. It is a huge pain when the T breaks down and we are shuttled by bus. It takes forever.

I'm sure they would have sent a replacement bus to where your bus broken down. Granted that probably also would have take forever. It's a good thing your DH was available so you didn't waste your evening!

  • Bah, that's no fun, as MrsC said though, good thing your DH was there to pick you up!  Do you commute to work by bus/train every day?

  • Oh no! I'm glad your husband was able to pick you up!
  • Yep, I've been commuting by bus every day.  It stops very close to my house and it's so much cheaper than the train I couldn't justify the cost of the fare plus parking, even though the train is faster.  We're talking a difference of about $1100/year!

I'm not sure they would have sent another bus or shuttle; you would think so, but it was the last bus of the day going this route and I'm sure it would have taken forever. So, yeah, thank goodness for DH!

  • Ugh that sucks. At least your H was able to pick you up! I got stuck on the commuter rail yesterday morning for almost 2 hours because somebody jumped in front of the train in front of us and killed themselves. So sad :(

Holy crap, that's way worse than my story!  How did I not hear about this on the news?

I think they would have sent a bus that was free or just finshing a route that doesn't normally run your route. They can't leave people stranded at the side of the road just because it broke down. They always send a bunch of buses when the T breaks down so I can't imagine it would have been too hard for them to get a single bus to you. Granted it wouldn't have been instantaneous at all.

There was a small blurb about it on boston.com.  I used to ride that train every day... I am so glad I wasn't on it.  That must have been awful.

Rock, it's so nice that you have options between bus and train.  That is a huge cost savings!
