I want new clothes please

I'm really trying to be good about shopping since I'm leaving my job/going to Korea in two months but I really want to go shopping. I'm trying to make due with my current wardrobe but years of being frugal by necessity has made it a little rough. I desperately need sandals and sneakers, which I will buy, but I also wants to buy a bunch shorts and t-shirts at Old Navy.

Must. resist. spring. shopping.

Re: I want new clothes please

  • Ha! My only good thing is that I like NOTHING that is out there.. nada. zip. zilch.  Ok, unless it was $$$$-which I'm too cheap for that.

    GL resisting Old Navy!

  • Lots of vibes to resist!! I feel your pain. Dh was sweet last weekend and went shopping with me. We each were allowed one outfit, but we ended up getting 2 lol. It was so hard to go look around at all the new pretty clothes and not buy everything in every store. Spring clothes are my favorite!
  • I haven't been shopping in forever.  Obviously my situation is different, but I've found that the less I shop the less I really want new clothes.  The whole maternity clothes thing is a different issue - my shirts aren't fitting very well anymore (only around my waist, everything above that is fine) and maternity shirts look HUGE.  I think I'm just going to look frumpy for awhile.

  • I'm trying not to buy too much now either.  I have "walked through" my maternity jeans already.  The thigh rubbage area is wearing away and will split/shred soon.  I am rationing my wear time with those and have resorted to wearing my "fat pants" with a bella band again.  It is surprisingly comfortable...

I have had to get a few more shirts...i was getting pit stains and pilling on my others.  Huh?

Also...not knowing baby's sex is a great way to avoid shopping.  I can't buy cute outfits b/c I don't know if I should buy boy or girl stuff!

Me too LOL.  I've been wearing DH's clothes non-stop because they're so roomy and comfy.  I can't stand the thought of anything even slightly close-fitting right now.

Cassie- I've seen a lot of stuff out there lately that I like, but I have to keep reminding myself that it makes no sense to buy it now.  Do you weed out your closet?  Sometimes it helps me if I go through my closet and find pieces that need to go...then I can find replacements.  It helps keep me from buying tons of clothes if I know I have to get rid of an equal amount of older clothes to get them.

I really need to weed through my spring stuff. I went through my closet a few weeks ago, but a lot of my spring and summer stuff is still packed away. I'll do that before I indulge my shopping urges.

  • I'm feeling lucky, because I'm now back in the land of extended twin wardrobe! Growing up, my twin and I shared all of our clothes, and when we went to different colleges, I lost half my wardrobe. I'm slightly taller and curvier than she is, but we pretty much wear the same size (especially for tops, dresses, and shoes), and we look good in the same things. Her DH makes lots of moola, so she has a fabulous wardrobe, and she is happy to let me borrow things! YAY!
  • Thanks Ashley, for linking your new outfit at AE, Now I have 5 things in my "cart" because I saw the additional 30% off clearance banner.
