I guess the thing is, there's lots of creative, beautiful art all over town. This just looks like he was trying too hard to be "different" or unique.

I don't really have a solid opinion about it yet since we don't live in Austin anymore and I haven't seen this project. My DH (who does appreciate art) is all up in arms about it, although he hasn't seen it either.
You are right about the pic, mimi. While it's definitely no "Central Park Gates", I can appreciate that it might actually be artistic, but I've yet to see a good picture of it.
Has anyone here seen it?
