s/o public art that looks like something else

Re: s/o public art that looks like something else

  • The photo makes it look lame, so I'd have to go see it in person before passing judgment.

  • i would also want to see it first, but my initial thought is that although i understand the idea behind the "art on the way" project, just stacking them like that is not really taking the barriers and creating something unexpected and new.  i've seen a lot of really amazing, cool, and even thought-provoking pieces of artwork made from unexpected materials, and this just isn't doing it for me.

  • I'd have to go check it out too!  I can see reasoning that the colors making a passerby think its a road hazard thing.
  • I guess the thing is, there's lots of creative, beautiful art all over town. This just looks like he was trying too hard to be "different" or unique.

  • I don't really have a solid opinion about it yet since we don't live in Austin anymore and I haven't seen this project.  My DH (who does appreciate art) is all up in arms about it, although he hasn't seen it either.

You are right about the pic, mimi. While it's definitely no "Central Park Gates", I can appreciate that it might actually be artistic, but I've yet to see a good picture of it.

    Has anyone here seen it?
