Cousin Update
Hey Everyone,
The had to move him to the NICU last night because of problems with his red blood cells stemming from the Rh factor incompatibility. They're concerned his blood isn't stabilizing the way it should, so he may have to be there a couple of days.
My Aunt and Uncle are both doing well health-wise, but it's obviously a struggle emotionally to watch their baby boy go through this.
I still haven't gotten a chance to meet him in person yet. Hopefully he'll be out of the NICU and home in a couple of days so that we can head over there to see him.
P.S. - I do realize that this may be a little strange to be so invested in a cousin who's 27 years younger than me. I guess I never explained my relationship with my Uncle -- He's my mom's baby brother. He and I are only 9 years apart. He helped raise me for most of my life, was my closest male relative once my dad bailed out on my family, and was actually the officiant at my wedding this summer. Of all my extended family memebers, he is by far the one I am closest too. So anyway...that may explain my constant stress/emotion/updates about the situation.

Glad to hear that overall things are going well. NICU can be scary, but it sounds like he's a lot better off than most little ones in there.
Thanks for the heads up on why you are so concerned, I have to admit I was a little
with the level of concern. Just figured you were close to your family and all. I totally get the having an uncle so close in age. My moms kid brother is just 4 yrs older than me. Not as close a relationship as you had, but I def get where you're coming from. Very cool that he was a part of your big day.

Colette, don't feel like you need to explain yourself to us - it could be your mailman's ex-wife's childhood best friend's twice-removed neighbor (I know that makes NO sense) - but if it's important to you, it's important to us and no one should question your level of involvement.

towards me, all I meant was that it was more than an average concern for a cousin. Meant it more in a joking tone than anything, that it was neat to see the connection she had with her uncle but that it wasn't necessary to explain. Clearly that didn't come across in my post...but the crappy day I've had did. This just makes it better. My apologies to the OP if anything was taken badly and to anyone else who's neck may be bothering them from sending side eyes my way.
I come from a close extended family and totally get it and understand. Lord knows I've posted on here about my cousins illness and passing and such in the past year. I'll spare you all the heartache of next weekend when I'm with his mother for the first bday of his without him here. Point taken.

I know, that's why I brought it up when the retrospective side-eye was mentioned. I get the concern and how devastating bad news is about a cousin can be more than I can put into words.
