who's been to vivo's?

I told MH we need date night this weekend and I've been wanting to check out vivo's - it's good, yes?  any recs on what to order?

I don't think it matters much, but we're going to the new location on 620, not the original one.

Re: who's been to vivo's?

  • Haven't been there, but have heard (regarding that location, in particular) the pear margaritas are delicious AND the place is full of naked lady pictures.
  • well then, good times will be had!

    Oh yeah!!

    Stick out tongue

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good! Just went there for the first time recently and were really impressed w/ the food and atmosphere. We went to the location downtown, not the 620 site, but I'm sure it's still great. I had the enchiladas. Man....... now I'm hungry!
  • Vivo's is taaasty. I've never had a bad entree, and their margaritas are delicious. Have fun!! It'll make for a great date night.
  • Love Vivo! Where else can you get tofu puffy tacos? The enchiladas are also very tasty. Mostly, it's just such a fun place to go, with a great atmosphere and I love always leaving with a rose!
  • I'm in the "ehhhh" section.

We went to the one downtown on a Friday and it was a very 'young twenties, i should have gone to a club' atmosphere.  I dunno, I didn't love it.  The food/service was good... but the DJ in the bar was kinda ridiculous, and I felt pretty out of place with the others there...

Some of the people I went with loved it.  Take my (old lady) opinion with a grain of salt.

  • I've been there several times.  I love going there.  It feels like you are in Downtown/Sixth Street, but don't have the hassle of driving all the way down there.  I love their chips and salsa.  BTW, the restaurant is 18 & up, and from 5-7 every day, appetizers are 50%, so we try to get their early besides the later you go the parking gets pretty full.  MH has his b-day celebration there, and his family didn't find the art offensive even his mother.
  • I was definitely expecting something racier with the paintings - seriously, that's why it's 18+?

the prickly pear marg was tasty, which was a good thing because my mouth was on FIRE from the shrimp enchilada special.  I'm a wimp when it comes to spice, but it was a bit OOC.  we did get a tres leches cake to go (too full to eat it there), I had a bite and I can't wait to have more later!

not sure if I'm dying to go back, but it's a better option than chili's/texican cafe if we want to stay closer to home.
