I just got an email from Carnival telling me that our cruise has been canceled. Just canceled. They just don't want that ship to do that line anymore. Kaput. Done.
My options are to:
-book a different cruise on the same ship for the same price
-book a cruise on a different ship, possibly pay more, but get $50 pp credit onboard
-get a full refund
I am really pissed about the whole situation. I know this is going to sound ridiculous - but I am mainly just completely heart broken over the fact we won't be able to celebrate our 1st anniversary how I was hoping. We didn't get a honeymoon, so I was just hoping we could have a nice trip for our anniversary.
As of now I don't know what I'm going to do.
And of course Ted doesn't see what the big deal is as long as we get our $ back. ![]()
Re: F^*# you Carnival!
I'm not really sure yet. There is a 7 day Mexican Riviera, but I didn't really want to go on that one because I've been on that exact cruise before & didn't like it enough to see the same ports twice. The other options right now are 3-4 day cruises that go to Catalina & Ensanada. I don't really want to do those ones either because... I want a longer vacation (there I said it!).
From what the Carnival rep told me there are going to be other cruises released soon that are on our ship & around our intended date, so I'm going to wait and see what those are like. We have 3 weeks to decide so... hopefully they release those cruises soon.
We were booked on the 8 day cruise on the Spirit. From what the rep told me, Carnival is changing the Spirit to 6 & 9 day trips to Mexico. There's no way I will be able to talk Ted into 9 days, it was a struggle to get him to agree to 8 days, but maybe one of the 6 days will be ok? I still don't know when those depart, where they depart from, or where they go.
I hate it when plans change! When I am mentally prepared for something, it needs to happen. I'm so sorry!
I think I have a solution though. Get a refund, fly to Baltimore on Nov. 3rd, spend the night at my house, leave for a 9-day cruise with us on the 4th. See, all better!
LOL. Oh Jenni I so
you! That plan does sound a-ma-zing. & you're right - being so excited and mentally prepared for that cruise makes the unwanted cancellation much worse.
Natalie - that sounds horrible! I've had flights changed on me before, but not that bad.
That sucks! What was the sail date of the cruise? I vote you just hold off on the cruise until November and go on Splendor with me.
Or maybe you could cancel with Carnival and sail on another cruise line?
But I know what you mean. I was just thinking that the 4-day Catalina- Ensenada- San Diego cruise was a great little quick trip I could go on with friends at some point, and then they went and moved the damn ship to Alabama! Who cruises from Alabama? Seriously!!!
I second this! Really it would feel like 8 days because the 9th "day" is just boarding the day you sail and departing early on the last day, which I don't think should really count as a day :-)
That really sucks it got cancelled. I hope they add some good cruises for you to choose from.

I talked to Ted about it and he actually said if we could get the 9 day cruise for the same price we are already paying, then I can book that one! I'm shocked. I think he said that because I was so upset, but he brought it up himself... so I'm not questioning it! Plus, because of how the 9 day cruise falls, he would be missing the same amount of days for work as the 8 day cruise. I'll have to call Carnival tomorrow and get more details. We wouldn't be on it for our anniversary... I still don't know how I feel about that.
That sounds like a good news! An extra day of vacation!
Then you get a vacation and another celebration on your actual anniversary!
I like the way you think
