Dog food - what do you feed?
I think I've asked this before, and sorry I'm asking again.
We have the dog on Blue Buffalo, and its supposed to be this great food but he isn't doing well on it. He licks his paws obsessively, he throws up easily and has diahhrea often. We've taken him to the vet, he's not sick. We also make sure that Layna isn't giving him food anymore.
What do you use? DH is thinking that this crazy expensive food is overrated and the dog needs the fillers in something like Purina One or whatever food you can get at WalMart

My 101
I know I'm going to doggy owner hell ... but we feed them Purina One.
I went through my poor new baby having the Big D all the time, and throwing up, etc ... We did raw food, we did home made food, we did the expensive food.
However, I just went broke and got sick and tired of all that. Now they get Purina One and sometimes even (GASP!) Costco brand dog food. He's fine. No more diarrhea, no throwing up .... he's just a normal dog.
Of course, I also give him beer when he's stressed out. Way cheaper than doggy xanax. So really ... doggy owner hell ... here I come!
ETA: That's not ot say I don't give them the juice from boiled chicken, or left over rice, or ground meat every now and then.
We feed Wellness Core which is a grain free dog food. Its pricey (~$55/26 lb bag) but she does really well on it.
ETA: Wellness is supposed to be a good brand. They have other lines of food that are less expensive than Core. I think the others are only a few bucks more than Blue Buffalo

Ditto this. We feed ours Pedigree and have for the 5+ years we've had our dogs. They really do great on it - never had any issues. And its about $20 for a 40 lbs bag.
We also on occasion will put meat drippings over their food, but not very often.
Wingnut used the drink my wine out of my glass if I left it on the coffee table. Of course I would find out too late and he would end up stumbling into walls later.
We do Costco's Kirkland's dog food as well. She ate Pedigree before, but reading the ingredients, Kirkland's has chicken as #1 for about the same price.
She also gets all of our meat leftovers.
The big dogs get Pedigree. The reasoning behind it was actually that it was one of the cheaper brands that don't give them acid pee to kill the grass with! They've tried lots of different foods and this one has seem to stick the longest, oddly enough. Doggy hell for that one or not, one is 13 and the other is 11. :P
Now, the little barky one is a lot harder.. she's a picky eater, and I had always put her on higher end Nutro or whatever organic foods. Then, she got bladder stones, had a super pricey surgery to get that fixed, and now is on super pricey Hills prescription diet wet food. We're talking $25 a case that lasts her about 3 1/2 weeks!!
All of them get chicken cuttings whenever we de-gristle that, and lots of veggie cuttings.
Married and it feels so good!
wellness simple lamb
not crap in it and no tummy troubles for her.
you can sign up for the email and you get coupons regularly for food or treats. also sign up at thomlinsons (sp) and you get freqy buyer program
We order from this site: http://www.paulspetfood.com/
They deliver it right to my door and they have great quality food for the same price as other quality brands! Pugsy and Winston like the Chicken, lamb and rice one.
Actually, I have done tons of research on dog food and the Kirkland brand ranks much higher than a lot of the very expensive dog food brands listed in this post! It rivals the $80/40 lb. bag brands.
we feed Cooper (Who has a sensitive tummy) Royal Canine Vet's choice. It's vension and potato and Cooper eats like an addict.
Since we switched him, he has had no repeat stomach issues. However, it costs $67 a bag. ouch.

I have a cocker spaniel, and they are supposedly prone to skin allergies. I use Eagle Pack Holistic Select. My dog is on a fish only diet in an effort to avoid any allergic reactions, so he gets the Anchovy, Sardine, and Salmon Recipe.
