So GLL's post on what are we looking forward to this week, led me to announce this:
I HATE eating crabs... our friends in Maryland have crab feasts all the time when we go down there in the summer/fall and I think its gross. Its a lot of work opening all those pieces on the crab, for not a lot of food. AND it makes your hands smell like crab ALLLLLL day (unless of course you follow the locals advice and wash your hands in mustard, which then makes your hands smell like mustard with a hint of crab!)...
...anyways, I dont know how many of you ladies have experience with this.... but theres a Yankee northerners warning for you!
Re: Crabs - A confession
Mmmmm I think they are totally worth the work and stench!
Now I want some!
I kind of like picking them apart. The fact that there isn't a ton in there means you can do it for a while - the social aspect mentioned.
Try lemon juice instead of mustard for the smell on your hands.
picking them apart is a chore! maybe its because I dont do it very often, and Im not completely accumstomed to it... but that part grosses me out too - there are the "fingers" to worry about - cant eat those... and that gross yellow gunk inside the crab too!
i just don't do shellfish- shrimp, clams, lobster crab, you name it bleh... so yucky
it's mostly a smell thing with me, in addition to being way to much work for such a little bit of meat
all that aside i love vacationing in Maine and can't wait till we gat back there in July... "i'll have the turf, hold the surf please"
My Food Blog
OMG I thought that same thing when I read the title! lol
That's to bad you don't like them T, but I can understand, I only eat King Crab Legs or go buy lump crab meat. The little ones are a lot of work, but I do understand the social aspect of it, since I lived in NOVA for 3 years and had my share of blue crab.Clomid + Met = BFP#1 12/27/10, missed MC discovered 2/9/11, d&c 2/11/11, 10w3d
