He's Here!

XP from MN...figured its slow over here and good news is good

He's home...and is passed out asleep at our apartment.  Jet lag and a red eye flight, lol.

Just a visit and then we go back to being bicoastal.  Was soooo good to see him.  Hadn't since early Feb when they had a port call in FL, and even that was brief as he had watch.  Really made it sink in that this underway and all the crap that happened while he was gone is D-O-N-E.

Now we just have to work on this move thing and getting it so we live next to the same ocean.

Re: He's Here!

  • YAY! Enjoy having him home, even if it is for only a brief visit.

  • Yay!  Enjoy your visit Wink

  • That's awesome JB!! Enjoy your time with him, every minute. How long is he home for?

You just made me REALLY excited for our visit this weekend! :)

  • He's around for about a week.  We've got a visit to MA planned for the weekend.  Been a while since both of us have seen family & my dad is getting a big award for his coaching this weekend.

I'm excited that you get your visit this weekend too.  Apparently its a popular week to fly across the country.Smile

Man, I really can't wait to have us on the same coast permanently.  I'm finding it harder to be apart now that he's back on land than I did when he was at sea.  I think bc in theory we could be together...its just that reality is dictating something different.  When he was underway, he was at work and thats just how it had to be.  That and the time difference sucks, as does his cell phone not working when he's on the ship (he's living on board till I get there).

  • That's great! I can't imagine how that must feel, but I'm sure it's awesome to have him home after being apart.

Chrissy - are you going to be in Raleigh this weekend? The weather is looking pretty good, mostly sunny & mid-80's.

  • JB - having them so close, yet so far away is MUCH harder than just having them far away! We'll be playing the bi-coastal game until some time next year, and then comes deployment. Our goal is to visit one weekend a  month (now that his schedule is more open) while he's in the states.

Kellybeth - I'm flying in and out of Raleigh, but we're staying in Fayetteville because he still needs to be able to get to base pretty quickly. Monday morning I should have some time to kill before my flight, so I imagine I'll be wandering around Raleigh or having coffee by myself. ::hint, hint::

  • Gah, it would be on a Monday morning. I have class from 10 - 11:30. What time is your flight?
    image
  • Actually, my flight is earlyish -- 10:15. I planned to be at the airport around 9:00-9:15. Is that too early for you?
  • Chrissy-Some time next year and then a deployment.  Doesn't that just figure.

I know. It freaking sucks. Plus, this deployment will be extra dangerous. Before he was always on a ship, so I could deal. Now he's special forces and will be doing scary stuff in the Middle East that he can't tell me about with guns and bombs. I'm really not looking forward to it. I figure this is pay back for having it relatively easy the last 6 or so years. At least I have my pooches though!

  • I didn't realize he was special forces, guess that explains all the training you've mentioned.  I hear you with the ship thing, there is an element of comfort in that, even if D is on what essentially amounts to a giant floating target (a carrier). That would def be an adjustment to have him on land.  D's ship will be due for a deployment next year too, thankfully he's going to shore duty in the fall so he won't be going along.

D does stuff he can't talk about at work too, not scary stuff though, just secret brainiac stuff.  Sometimes its a little odd that he can't tell me about his day...but its for good reason and he seems to like having the separation between work life and home life.  If you need an ear while he's away, be it x-country or deployed, drop me a line.

Oh & the pooch part is so true.  Our dog was great to have around while D was gone...and seeing them reunited this morning was absolutely priceless.  They were both so happy to see each other that I mighta teared up a little.  Jack was grunting his tail was wagging so hard.
