Local anniversary locations?
I'm looking for a nice romantic weekend anniversary trip for DH and I in October. We've looked at going to Hocking Hills but that's kind of pricey because of the time of year.
We want to go somewhere within a few hours of home. Something fun, relaxing, and romantic.
Where have you gone and where did you stay? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!
Re: Local anniversary locations?
I haven't personally been but my friend and several ladies on this board rave about Murphin Ridge Inn. My friend went for the same occassion that you are looking for and loved it so much she said she's thinking about making it an annual thing. Hopefully the others will chime in if they've had personal experience here. I've heard nothing but great things!

I don't have a personal experience but Slim's chef left to go there. So food wise it should be really good.
We love going to Louisville. I would also suggest Midway or Bardstown. I think MIL's friend own's Beautiful dreamer B&B http://bdreamerbb.com/index.html
DH and I always say we're going to go to Murphin Ridge...7 years later and we've never been. (-=
I would recommend Ravenwood Castle (www.ravenwoodcastle.com)...that's where we got engaged, and we went back for a weekend last October. It's pretty much in the hocking hills region, and I can't say it's terribly cheap, but we had a great time (there's no internet, TV, or cell service out there, FYI).

West Baden Resort....is in Indiana....I have not been there but my mom has and she says it's nice and has recommended it to DH and I for a weekend trip.
Also, Brown County can be nice and relaxing if you get a small cabin with a hot tub!?
