..and I'll join you, Sheri...

My mom does the Breast Cancer walk every year for Mother's Day.  I thought-hey-it would be nice to walk with her... and then head to my sister's/BIL's with her for a Mother's Day brunch thingy... Mom said-yes, come join me.

Um, it's just under $200 to do the WALK!?! WTH!... I thought I was going to choke!

and on top of that.... the skids have hair cuts at 9pm tonight. WHO DOES THAT?!? On a ... school night, no less!

Gah!

  • Yea, for the SGK 3-Day, you have to raise something like $2500 just to be able to walk.  I don't get it.  I mean, I get raising money for a good cause, but THAT much, just to walk for the good cause?  Excuse me if I'm being ignorant, but I don't get it, to me they should want to accept any size donation.

I completely agree! They should let anyone walk that brings a donation. And if they must put a minimum donation for walkers so they aren't overcrowded, make it something reasonable like $20.

Lori, do you think you could tell your mom you didn't realize the cost of it and will opt out or will it hurt her feelings?

  • I am all for doing good things like walking and donating for a cause.  When you tell me how much I have to donate in order to count I dont feel i am making a donation anymore.  It just feels like I am paying to participate.

Mom would probably understand... but I think I'll talk with DH first... OR I could just meet her in Phila for brunch at my sister's... and cheer HER on.

I think I get a T-shirt with the $... if that makes any difference...

Wait-I think I mis-read it... The first one is the 'Platinum Challenge'

The race entry fee of $186.75 DOES includes:
    * A minimum personal donation of $150.00, which is tax deductible and will be counted towards your fundraising total
    * The Race entry fee of $35.00
    * Cost of sending your Race t-shirt, number and materials to your home
    * A credit card fee of $1.75 credit card fee.

    OR-pay $40 and that's it...

    I'm such an idiot...
