What do you consider to be a real vacation, based on the length of the vacation?[Poll]

I was talking about this subject with Ted. Well actually this subject has come up quite a few times.
To me a real vacation is at least 5 days. I just can't get into vacation mode & relax in a weekend. Ted, on the other hand, thinks anytime you get out of town is a real vacation. If it's a couple of days to visit friends, that's a vacation to him. To me that's more of a "trip" than a vacation.
I agree. It's not a real vacation unless I get a significant break from work.
5 days to a week or longer is a real vacation for us.
DH and I call the 3-4 trips "weekend getaways".
I think my idea of a vacation is defined by why we're taking it and the effort put into planning rather than length. Like if I extend a work trip - not a vacation. If we're visiting family in Nebraska - not a vacation. If we're doing a weekend somewhere close to us - not a vacation.
Key West last fall was only 4 nights, and I considered that a vacation. I would consider a long weekend to the tropics a vacation.

I need to explain the difference between a "getaway" and a "vacation" to my husband, lol. Luckily, since I feel so strongly about it, he is willing to go along with almost anything. It's not like I'm trying to always get us into taking several week long vacations each year. I just want one good, long vacation.
I said 7 days... To me...I need to be off an entire week and two weeks, which is a solid 7+days for it to be a really enjoyable worthwhile vacation.
Otherwise I'm just taking days off... not taking a vacation!
I agree with this too. 5+ days is not my only requirement for a "real" vacation. ie. visiting family in NY = not a vacation.
