Short vent..not even worth reading

My future BIL is an idiot.

That is all.

Re: Short vent..not even worth reading

  • I just can't stand it when people make ignorant remarks, then act like they were joking when you clearly show you're not finding their comments funny.
  • you have just described my mil.

  • Well M told his family that I have made the choice to no longer consume meat or dairy products.

My latest status on FB just simply stated "is going to enjoy my last week of eating meat and dairy", or something to that effect.  He then proceeded to call me a tree hugging hippie (you can see it on my profile if you really want to).  I didn't bother explaining myself, or my opinion to him because I don't feel like I owe anyone an explanation for the choices I make in my life, except to myself.  I only told him to STFU.

It probably really shouldn't aggravate me, it's probably something I should just be able to laugh off, but he tends to make stupid comments about lots of things and it gets on my nerves.

    Or I'm just a b!tch.

Ahhhh Idea   now it makes sense.  I just saw that on FB before coming over here and I was like, WTF is that guy's problem?!?  Jerk.  Why does he care?!  Ugh, I can't stand people like that.

  • woah Sheri...you are going Vegan???? Thats nuts! I've done vegetaraian a few times in my life for years at a time, but I could never go vegan. I love cheese and ice cream far to much!

Are you doing it for health reasons or animal rights reasons? just curious

Health is the biggest reason.  This isn't something that I've decided suddenly either, I've considered it for a long time actually, quietly to myself.  Honestly I was too afraid, I guess, to go for it before.  When I was younger I cared WAY too much what people thought of me, now, I just don't give a fluck, I'm not going to be hurting anyone so I have nothing to worry about.

  • I think its great....thats weird that you would be judged though. Maybe its more accepted out here because I am in a large city. We have restaruants out here that cater to vegans!

I do think that M is being an idiot. I dont see how its going to jack up your grocery bill. You will be eating better and less meat and dairy which are more $$$ in my opinion.

Just eat sensibly and dont get caught in a carb (ie lots of pasta) or processed food rut, it can happen.

Allrecipes.com has TONS of vegetarian and Vegan recipes! Whole Foods puts out a great cookbook that they mark what items are veggie and vegan friendly!

Like I said, the new girl at my work is Vegan. She made vegan red velvette cupcakes yesterday for one of our coworkers bdays and no one knew they were vegan!

I think its great that you are doing this! be sure to take supliments and get your protien in other ways! good luck!

  • My SIL is vegan so if you need help with anything I have become quite the vegan cook.

I am dairy free at the moment and I know it is hard to change, but that is your decision to make.  It has not increased our grocery bill at all and in some ways have decreased it. Sorry M is being stubborn.
