FI and I are thinking about getting a Lab puppy when we get back from the wedding. The last time I dealt with a puppy I was in the 6th grade, so it's been awhile and I feel like I need to get a better idea of what to expect before making a final decision.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for books or websites about what to expect with a puppy and how to raise a well behaved dog?
TIA!
Re: XP: Puppy resources?
I adopted a dog from the local Humane Society and their website has TONS of articles on dog training and behavior. Here's a link:

IMO, one of the biggest aids in training my dog was crate training. It serves a few different purposes (especially helpful with potty training for puppies) and was just an overall lifesaver. I started out crating at night and during the day while I was at work, but ended up only needing it during the day to keep him out of trouble while I was gone.
Also, a friend of mine went on vacation for a week or so right after getting her puppy. She had it boarded and trained while she was gone and when they got back the dog was fully trained! It cost a little bit, but they've never had any problems since and the dog is really obedient.
Good luck! Getting a puppy is challenging but VERY fulfilling!
