f/u to wish me luck

The prodcedure went fine according to the Dr and nurses. I'm also super sore. I feel like I was hit by a train.  So the DH is out getting me my pain meds script filled as we speak.

I saw a few of you were curious why had to get this shot. The reason is I have a bulging/herniated disc causing my left arm and leg to go numb randomly throughout the day. I also have a spondylolisthesis in my lower back.  In a jist. I'm all jacked up.

I was most disappointed to find out that I can't workout for the next 3 d*mn months.  All I can do is walk, swim (which is kind of hard w/ no real pool access), ride the recline bike.  Which is very frustrating to me. For some reason I thought after this shot and the one in two weeks I could start running again.  He doesn't forsee me being able to run for the next 6 d*amn months. Again very frustrating.  Esp since  I have not been able to run for the last three months.  So needless to say I was pretty bummed. i've gained about 8 lbs since the wedding and I wanted to get it off before I have to go home for a wedding in June.  Needless to say, that is going to be difficult w/ little calorie burning. I guess I will be walking and walking and walking.  I can't even do the Jilliam Michael DVD's.  So enough about that Pitty Party.

  Thanks for thinking of me.

Glad to hear it went well. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Is it just a one time procedure or is it several? Tons and tons of vibes that this works! Hope you are feeling better soon!

  • Wow, Ashley!  I'm glad everything went well today but I'm sorry you won't be able to get fully back to normal for that many months.  Even though you can't run, hopefully you can find some other routine that you enjoy.  Is there a YMCA nearby with a pool?  Even if joining a gym with a pool costs more, I bet the money would be worth your sanity!

Good luck on the rest of your recovery!

This was also my thought...at least you'd be able to do something! Glad to hear it went all right - hope you can find activities that are allowed and help you feel better!

  • I'm glad the procedure went well, but that sucks you're so limited for awhile. I hope you're able to find some sort of work out that you can do and that you don't hate!

  • glad it went so well.  i am so sorry you are all jacked up.  i feel your pain.  i know this might sound silly, but have you heard of sit and work out.  (i think that is what it is called)  it is a workout for people 60+ aka very mellow.  maybe it can be something you can do.

  • I'm so glad the procedure went well! I'm sorry they won't let you work out though. That's a bummer.

  • I'm happy to hear it went well Ashley.  I'm sorry you can't work out for so long.  That's such a bummer.  Is there a specific part of your body that they are most worried about?  Maybe you could do some light weight training for the parts that are 'okay'?

  • Thanks Ladies. My most troublesome area is my beer gut. LOL that is what I want to loose the most then just tone up everywhere else.

In regards to the YMCA, yes we have a one.  I just canceled my membership last week cause it was nice out and I could not do stuff outside and do the Jillian Michaels DVD's. BTW I just bought her trouble zone one. That is bad ass. I really liked it.  In order to rejoin I would have to pay back teh $100 start up fee plus the normal $40 a month.  Also their pool is kind of gross.  I went once and wasn't really impressed.  But it's def something to think about. I'm going to call my physical therapist today and get his thoughts on all this.  I"m also going to check out marleina's tip.  That workout my work.  The Dr. also said that I can't do anything that involves my shoulders/neck.  So this should be very fun.  I can do sit ups though. :)
