Does anyone have experience with chiropractors? Good or bad?
I've been having some pain in my hip, I think brought on by running, it's not so serious as to send me running to an orthopedist, but it's annoying and I was thinking maybe a chiropractor might be a good place to start. Thoughts?

Re: chiropractor
Whatever you do, DO NOT let them crack your neck!!! It can cause strokes in women because the nerves in our necks are so sensitive and they tear easily. The damage can be serious and irreversible. It really isn't worth the risk IMO.
With that said, I have been several times. I am supposed to go once a week for my back pain. I have two vertebrae that are fused together on one side but not the other and it causes serious pain in my lower back but my insurance doesn't cover more than like 3 visits and the relief (in my case) was just temporary so I chose not to continue paying out of pocket.
I'm going to throw in a plug for physical therapy...
If your hip problem is running related, it's due to your stride. This in turn can be caused by one of two things: 1) improper running shoes for your gait, or 2) weak muscles causing you to rely on the wrong muscles for running, and therein, throwing off your gait and hurting your hip in the process. I don't think a chiropractor will solve either of those. PT is the way to go.
I'm seeing a chiropractor currently to help keep my body aligned as everything is shifting and adjusting for the baby.
I would say, though, that if it is something caused by running, you may want to do some PT to correct the problem (like Karen said) rather than just try to work with the pain.
You may want to have DH or someone photograph you running head on (I'll do it if you want
). I had no idea that I ran pigeon toed until I saw a photo of myself from the 5K I did. Some muscles in my knee were weak. Fortunately, a friend of mine is a sports trainer, saw the picture, and gave me some exercises to do to strengthen up those muscles and correct my stride. Unfortunately, I'd done some damage to my other leg because of it (it was overcompensating for my weak knee'd wonky running) and now I can't run anymore
