Shower Hostess Gifts

There are five hosts for my shower in June, and I'm trying to think ahead about gifts to give them.  What do you guys think about this?

  • A bottle of OPI nail polish
  • A $5.00 gift card to Panera Bread
  • A travel size bottle of Aveda hand and body wash or color conserve shampoo (all of them get their hair colored/hi-lighted) haven't decided
  • Chocolate truffles
  • ?

Does that seem chincy?  The items are all small, but it all adds up.

I was thinking about a nice bottle of wine and something else, then realized only one person out of the group would probably actually drink it...but that kind of gift probably looks like more than what I've listed above, even though the price is prob the same, KWIM?

Should I just say screw it, and get them all flowers?  Or a gift card to a resturant or store?

Bath and Body Works stuff is not an option.  One has allergies to it, one won't use it period (and will likely regift it, since I've gotten some of her's before), and I'm sure the others have plenty of it.

Thoughts?

  • I think if you put that stuff in a cute little basket or make-up type bag it would be perfect!

  • I dont' think it is chincy, but maybe a little too random.

My thought is not to do the nail polish because people have their own prefence for colors. However, if you think you know them well enough to pick a color, then maybe go with a nail them with the polish and other items like files, lotions, etc.

I like the truffles - maybe go to Mary Ann is EGR and do a variety of chocolate - either pre-packaged or an assortment of their individual pieces. They can package it up all nice for you. They did the favors for us for a work event and were super nice.

If they are not wine drinkers what about Margarita or mixed drink type drinkers. What about one of those frozen drink mix. Tastefully simple has some.

Ditto.  I like getting that kind of stuff.  I mean, if it were for me, just a larger box of truffles would be fine but I do like the variety.  Also, have you looked on etsy for anything unique??

  • I haven't really looked at etsy, since I don't know what I'm looking for. I need a starting point, if that makes sense.

  • Your list sounds good to me.
  • I agree with GVSU; it seems like enough, but a little random.  I would go with either the "at-home manicure" idea or "food/drink" idea.

I think you could do OPI nail polish, the small Aveda hand/body wash, and maybe an Aveda lotion, too.  Throw in an emery board and package in a cute little box or basket and you're golden.

Otherwise, I like the idea of a Panera gc, truffles (you could order from the Chocolate Garden--GRKaters is a big fan) or handmade chocolate (Patricia's Chocolate is beautiful, delicious, and made in Grand Haven).  I think Chymes knows a seller in GR, but East Village Wine Shoppe in Spring Lake and Santo Stefano in Grand Haven both sell it.  You could add a bottle of wine, six pack of beer (take the bottles out of the cardboard and arrange them in a basket with everything else), or as Tigers mentioned margarita mix to suit the taste of the individual.

Double ditto. I think the mix sounds perfect. If I can recommend truffles, check out Art of the Table. They carry Patricia's Chocolates (she is out of Grand Haven) and every truffle I've had there has been absolutely heavenly. I'd take some of those any day. My favorites are the Banana Rum and Pear Caramel.

  • i had a link of a gourmet shop in Ada (I think it was in Ada) and they had Patricia's Chocolate, that i was going to show you but got sidetracked and didn't do it. I went to Local First's website and food.
