At Long Last...

...our honeymoon is booked!  Woohoo!

So, the first thing I did was add a new ticker to my siggy.  I'm such a nerd!

We're leaving Memorial Day evening and spending 5 days and 5 nights in Branson, Missouri.  DH has never been to Silver Dollar City, despite having been to Branson and living so close, so we're spending a couple of days there.  We're also planning on riding the ducks at Tablerock Lake, going to the Titanic museum, and seeing the Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibits.  Neither one of us was too interested in the shows that are always so crowded.  The hotel looks really nice, is NOT on the main strip (which, if you've ever been, you understand why!), and has an indoor pool.

I'm so excited!

Re: At Long Last...

  • Yay! Sounds like fun, congrats!!!
  • DH and I have been talking about going to Branson for a weekend getaway. Let me know how it goes!

I've been before; I'm sure it will be awesome! =]

If you're wanting a weekend getaway and you've been talking about it for a while, I really think you should consider going in the next couple of months before you're trying to make arrangements to take your new special addition with ya. =]

Haha yes you're right! Although it is pretty kid-friendly there :) I will look into the hotel you are going to. Have fun and take lots of pictures and don't leave them like I did :(

BTW, what's the name of the hotel?

The Carriage House Inn.  We're staying in a king jacuzzi suite. =]

  • You will have so much fun!  I lived and worked in Branson for a few years.

Head just a little south and go to Big Cedar Lodge.  Its beautiful and the restaurant there has great food!

Also, the sunset view from The Chateau on the Lake is really nice.  Just take a short drive out there walk around for a good view and sit and watch.  When I would get stressed out from work, I would drive out there and watch the sunset.

The Branson Landing has lots of shops and eating places.  Cantina Laredo down there has THE BEST Mexican food!

For an awesome breakfast spot, there is a little dive on the back roads to SDC called Billy Gails.  It looks like an old gas station dump..but they have THE BIGGEST pancakes you have ever eaten.  Its awesome.

The butterfly palace is really cool too...you can walk around thousands of butterflies and they land on you!

If you DO want a show, I highly recommend The Showboat Branson Belle and the Amazing Acrobats of China.

I lived there for years (performed in several shows) and saw every show in town, but we ALWAYS hit those two up everytime.  The Belle will be cheap if you tell them you have SDC tickets.  Its a meal, cruise, and show and is great.  My husband isn't into shows but he loves the Belle.

And the acrobats of china are just amazingly talented.  They are too great and always blow my mind.

Just so you know, Silver Dollar City owns the City, the Belle, and the ducks....so you might want to call and see if they have discounts for booking some of those attractions in combo.

  • Bigvoice, thanks for all of the feedback!  I've always loved Branson; I'm so excited to see things with DH!

I did do this; we bought season passes (since a season pass is cheaper than two one day tickets) and those have awesome discounts with enough attractions they send you a pamphlet detailing them all. =]

  • Congrats! I used to live in Springfield, MO and went to Branson all the time, especially Silver Dollar City!!! Enjoy it!!
