I couldn't figure out why our bill has been $30 higher in the past few months. They decided that we wanted movie channels again. We have been charged an extra $30 since January and no one is willing to do anything about it. We haven't even watched any of these channels. So frustrating!!!
Re: Grrr Direct TV
That is ridiculous!
DH works for Comcast, and they have a "retainment department" that they will connect you with if you threaten to switch providers. Basically they give you the best customer service and deals that way. Maybe see if Direct TV has something similar? I don't see how they can charge you if you didn't request those services to be added back.
We've been with them since we moved into our house in July of '09. The channels got added back into our package in January. It was $35 worth of HBO, Starz, and Showtime.
I was finally able to get through to someone who not only spoke English, but was also able to help me. They credited all of the money back, and also gave me an awesome deal for $4 a month we can get Starz and Showtime. We don't really watch either channel, but I figured for $4 it was worth it, even for one movie a month it's worth it. I didn't even have to threaten to cancel.
Oh good! Some of my favorite series are on Showtime - Weeds, and Nurse Jackie!
Do what I did. I called Dish Network and told them that we were thinking about going to Direct TV. They lowered my bill and gave me movie channels for free for several months.
I don't know if it'd work! Direct is HALF what we are paying now! I'll try it, though.
Other than this issue, we have been really happy. If you switch to Direct, let me know before you sign. We can both get $100 if you give my account number when/if you sign up. We haven't really had issues with the signal going out due to weather, or anything else. The installation guy was really good when they set everything up, even connected our dvd player, and other stuff and made them all work on the same remote. IMO they went above and beyond from the start.
I LOVE DirecTV. Such a breath of fresh air after dealing with Comcast's crap and ridiculous prices and horrible customer service for years (sorry Freeburger). My dad referred us so we got the $10 off per month for 10 months, and we also got in during a promotion, so our bill has been consistently the same price and super cheap for months. We love them.
