don't laugh!

My husband and I have been married for a few weeks now. Before we got married we always used condoms (even though I've been on the pill for years) for an extra precaution to not get pregnant. Since we got married we ditched the condoms and although the sex is even better, I never imagined it would be so messy! I feel like I have to jump up and run to the bathroom before his semen gets all over everything. So much for cuddling after! I know this may sound immature, but I need some advice!

Re: don't laugh!

  • Keep a towel nearby. Nobody likes to sleep in the infamous wet spot.;)
  • Some people run to the bathroom right away, some don't.

I'll wipe and then cuddle for a bit then head off to the washroom.

Like pp said you can use a towel, keeps everything under it clean ^_^

    Sooooooo true.

I always try and steer the sexy-time over on to H's side of the bed so he's the one with the wet spot Big Smile

  • H usually walks to the washroom right after sex, cleans himself off quickly then brings me a kleenex and off I go to the washroom to pee and clean up.  It's quick, I feel more comfortable, I avoid the wet spot and H waits on the bed for me to continue our post sex cuddling.

I think the only way I wouldn't go to the washroom right after sex is if it was far away from where we we're doing it but we live in a condo...every things close.

  • It's actually a game with us - we try to push one another into the wet spot.  Gross, but fun.

when me and SO were together he did the same thing and it worked out great for us. that's what i would suggest

  • It is messy, and so, when we're done, we both end up in the bathroom cleaning up, and then we go cuddle. Its no biggie at all. Most of what they show on television isn't realistic so don't go by that. Even when we use condoms, my H doesn't like to sit there with it on afterwards so he goes to the restroom.
  • I bought a pack of kitchen washcloths for such moments.  (not too big, not too small)  I keep them by the bed to tuck between my legs so that we can snuggle a bit.  They are even a rusty red color for cleanups after my period.

Now...a tale from my past to amuse you all...

My first bf was a total db.  He would never have anything by the bed for me to "stem the tide" and would sometimes tease me about it saying "Well, I gave it to you, it is your problem now."

Told you he was a db.

So, I finally decided to get my revenge.  I made sure we finished with me on top and then I just slid up his body a bit and let it all dribble out of me onto his belly.   He wiggled underneath me, but I just looked him in the eye and said "Guess it is *YOUR* problem now."

I act like I'm going to do that, and then we wrestle a bit while he tries to prevent me.  I think I was successful once.  Not because he was being an a$$, just because I thought it would be funny.

And yeah, that guy is a mjaor douche and has some weird issues with women and sex.

  • Thanks ladies for turning my awkwardness into hilarious! I love that it actually has been named "the wet spot". I'm sitting here cracking up at the stories! And thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try the washcloths or tissues by the bed.
  • Warm Towel on the nightstand.

  • we keep a box of baby wipes in the night stand...it helps avoid the wet spot however if there is a leak you can use them to wipe that up as well....not to mention it helps me and hif freshen up right away...

About a zillon years ago, a department store by us was selling posters --- one of them was called "50 Ways for You and Your Mate to Lose Weight."

Each of the 50 activities had a caloric value.

"Avoiding the wet spot: 150 calories" was one of them.

I was maybe 10 or 11 when I saw this poster -- I sort of figured out what the "wet spot" might be. I got a good giggle out of it...and I didn't dare ask my Ma for confirmation of what the "wet spot" actually was. heh. I'd have had my ears boxt for that one but good.

  • *laughs*  And now DH and I are going to have to play "avoid the wetspot" next time!

Usually, DH goes to clean up first and I go when he's done, then we snuggle up. Although how things are going to work out now that he's on third shift and I'm still on days, I'm not sure.  More sex in random parts of the house, I think, so less cuddling.  At least so far.  We're more inclined to cuddle if we're in bed than if we're on the living room floor.  :D

When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

    This 100%

  • First off let me say I'm a virgin and getting married in 7 1/2 months.  This famous "wet spot" that all are talking about...does it leak through to the mattress?  Dumb question I'm sure but I don't know and this seems like a great bunch to ask these awkward questions to.  Do you keep a mattress cover on?

  • I got a mattress protector.  It's not the plasticy feel one.  It's softer.  You can stain the matress and if you are on your period even get an uglier stain.
  • We get Kleenex & both do the extremely unsexy waddle to the bathroom.

  • I keep a towl or roll of tp in my nightstand drawer next to my side of the bed and then wipe up right after.

Ditto...we waddle to the bathroom which is fun in its own right.  We clean up and hop back into bed for cuddle time.  It's much more comfortable than laying around feeling sticky.

  • We lay a towel under us. So there is never a spot. Also, there is something from PR that helps dry up the wet spot. It's called "In Between the Sheets".

  • We keep old towels in the nightstand. When we're finished, I roll over and grab a towel or two. DH wipes up a bit, I stuff a towel between my legs, and then we can cuddle for a bit.

Ha Ha!  I've done that before!  Usually we just both hop up and clean-up but for those messier times it is better to just put a towel underneath.

Any liquid (sweat, drinks, etc) will leak through a sheet so yes it will leak through to a mattress.  If you are concerned, get a plastic cover or one of those hypoallergenic mattress pads.  Otherwise, I would say don't stress and have fun tearing up the sheets!

  • Usually I just akwardly run/waddle to the bathroom. All of the examples above are HILARIOUS! I do like the baby wipe idea though!

This stuff is AMAZING...plus it smells really really good and I believe there are phermones in it! I even spray it on my sheets before bed so they smell good!

i was a virgin too and haha wouldn't have known a thing about this wet spot!

on our wedding night we used a towel, and we actually have a "sex blanket" we put down if things are a little extra wet that day...that way i don't have to change the whole bedding i can just wash that blanket if we drip a little too much.
