Gift Idea for Host Abroad
Help me think of a nice thank you gift to give to my DH's Aunt and Uncle who will be hosting us for a few days in Germany. I can't arrive empty handed! If possible I'd like to link it to Cincinnati (or the US) in some way.
At first I considered a bottle of Vinkolet wine but now that you can't carry liquids onto the plane I'm afraid it could break in our luggage and ruin our clothes (would NOT be a good start to our trip!). Maybe some canned skyline or chili mix packets but that can't stand on its own and not sure if they'd like it. I also considered baking something (cookies or a coffee cake) but may not have the time...
Re: Gift Idea for Host Abroad
Here are some things I have taken overseas as gifts for friends that seemed to be well received:
Cincinnati mug from Starbucks; Cincinnati Reds tshirt; chocolates from Greaters, Cincinnati stationary/cards from Cincy Museum Center; Cincy basket w/canned & boxed goods from Skyline, Frische's (tartar sauce), Greaters cookies, Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce; Cincinnati Christmas tree ornament.
Another idea, a Hofbrauhaus beer steines. I know they sell them and they say newport. I wonder if any say Cincinnati? that might be fun for a German friend.
Also, they used to sell bottles of wine with scenes of Cincinnati by a local artist at the Monestary Wine Bar in Mt. Adams. I think if you check the wine, it should be fine (well packaged).
