Re: what to give mom for Mother's Day?

  • My mom is a gardener, so we are making her some stepping stones for one of her gardens.  We're making one for each of the kids and grandkids and we're going to decorate them with glass, shells, and beads.  They have kits at Target for $5 each, but my sister found some DIY instructions online for a cheaper way to do it, since we are making 10 of them.
  • i love getting chcolates from woodhouse, they are the best :) not your most budget/deal gift, but a good one nonetheless

otherwise i like shopping for gift ideas at redenvelope.com and uncommongoods.com

great idea, i think we will do that for grandma :)

  • I'd like to get her a gardening book that is for our local area since everything she has is for CA.
  • Easy this year... baby photos!

Usually I treat my mom to something relaxing like a massage or chip in to get her hair done.

  • This year I'm getting my mom some nice perfume, something she loves but won't "waste" the $$$ to buy.

For my stepmom I'm getting a blown-glass angel or orb - haven't decided yet - from Uncommon Goods.  I love that site!  We've purchased several gifts from there and Red Envelope (both mentioned by PP) for our moms on various occassions and they always go over well.

For MIL... J is responsible for this.  I've reminded him twice already, which means he will wait until the last possible moment and then send a GC in a card.

  • I bought a recordable storybook from Hallmark to give to my MIL, so she can record her voice reading the book. It will be nice for when our lil one is born to have his grandma "read" to him when she is not there. We're technically taking the gift back though- lol. We'll prob. get her something else too. As for my mom, probably a wall hanging frame from redenvelope.com and fill it with pictures of the kids and gkids.
