BR: Has anybody used Belly Bandit?

I was browsing online and stumbled upon this. Has anybody used this post partum? Does it help? Do you think it is worth getting? I am curious as to what you mamas think.

Re: BR: Has anybody used Belly Bandit?

  • I used a simple exercise band that I bought at Ross for $5.  It really helped shrink my uterus dramatically... fast.  I started using it once I got home from the hospital and wore it most of the day.  I was able to button my pre-preg pants just 9 days after A was born, even though I still have some lbs to lose (I gained 25 in all).  I don't think you need a pricey, special band --- just something that you can wrap tightly and that's adjustable as you skinny up again. Big Smile

This is good to know!! Thanks :-).

  • I just used the one they gave me in the hospital and wrapped it as tight as it would go.  I pretty much wore it 24/7 the first couple weeks.  I think it definitely helped.

Do they give one to everybody or only for those who had CS? I'll keep this in mind and use one post partum :=).

  • I used a post-partum band I bought from Motherhood Maternity. It was cheap(er) than most I had found and it did its job. However, it wasn't terribly comfortable... not sure if it was the material it was made out of. I figure... you only use it for such a short period of time, I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on it!

I'm not sure but I think the dr has to order it.  So just ask your dr about it, I guess?

This. I felt it was REALLY uncomfortable. I wore one for about 3 weeks. I do think it helped shrink my uterus though. I also bought it from motherhood. It tend to roll down like the bella band that I used (which I also hated). I hate tight stuff on my stomach so I'm really surprised I made it 3 weeks wearing it! Overall, I would suggest it for at least the first week or so. It kind of reminds your body to put things back :)

I did work post partum and the OB's only order them for c/s patients. I would just buy one if you really want one.

  • Really? Everyone used this? Wow! I had a Belly Bandit that I got as a gift but after the CS there was NO WAY anything was touching my tummy! So, I didn't use it. And so maybe that's why my tummy took forever to shrink! Haha. I'm slowly able to get into my old clothes, but SLOWLY. I wasn't in my jeans until 3 months after! And my skinny jeans? 5-6 months! And my really skinny jeans? Scared to try them on.......

My el-cheapo exercise band was pretty comfy.  It was just a flexible black stretchy fabric/light-rubber band with velcro on one end... I slept in it and wore it around the house no prob.  I should probably keep wearing it, but I've gotten lazy.... =/
