How does your garden grow?

Wondering if anyone else was planning their gardens yet? I've got my seed catalogs out and am contemplating my veggies for the summer. So many choices, so little garden space!!

Re: How does your garden grow?

  • Wow, I guess it is that time again, I haven't even thought about it yet.... I'll probably just do tomatoes and cucumbers again. Although my radishes and carrots did okay last year....humm....maybe that too

  • I don't even have the space for a garden...I'd love to grow some tomatoes.  :(  Maybe once we move...
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

You actually don't need that much space for a garden. I managed to grow tomatoes in containers for the 4 years I lived in apartments in ABQ. DH thought I was nuts, but I HAD to have my tomatoes. I usually get an August onslaught of tomatoes.

I was having too much fun looking at all the squash and pumpkins. The white luna squash look like they might be fun. I may try carrots again this year. None of mine made it last year.
  • i kill everything !!  it's easier to just buy
  • I actually did carrots in planters, so I was surprised that they grew.... The squash sound good! Have you ever entered anything in the fair?

  • I've actually never entered anything in the NM fair. I've thought about it for my tomatoes, but never done it.  I do love going through that part of the fair and admiring what everyone else grows.
  • Is the fair good here???  I loved the fair back in Ohio. I used to be in 4-H!  I have done rabbits and cakes  =)
  • I don't like it as much as the fair back in Alaska, but t is decent. We only go every couple of years. They do tend to have god concert/rodeos though (especially if you like country music).

  • Well i work in country radio so i think i am ok there  =)

My old Fair was always so funny -- you would always run itnot people from HS and they would act like you were great friends... yet you hated the person.  Just funny.
  • Avs-
The fair here is a pretty big deal. It's actually one of teh laregr ones in the US. (That whole 5th largets state and still pretty darn rural thing!)
If you work in ciuntry radio you'll definitely hear about the fair. Lots of big acts come in for Tingley.

We always end up going to the fair several times. One day is usually just to eat our way through - funnel cakes, Indian fry bread, turkey legs, etc. And then I usually go for work a day or 2 (my division actually owns a building). And then for some of the art days.  The fair has a great mix - all that 4H stuff, plus tons of really neat art exhibits and shows.
  • We always had a garden when I was younger.  I used to love helping my parents set it up.  DH and I don't have a garden, but we have quite a few fruit trees in the backyard.  We also plant lots of flowers every year.
