Gosh - we're snoozeville today!

Ok ladies -whats shakin'??  We're sooo boring today!  Big Smile

As for me - Hubby is buying up our cabinets today (woot, woot!!).  Only took 4 trips to Ikea to get this feat accomplished.  LOOOONG story on that one.  Regardless, I can't wait to get started.  Suppose I have to finish taking things apart first though.  Details, details.

Re: Gosh - we're snoozeville today!

  • It's really quiet here today.  My boss ran off to Augusta to try to save his favorite Chinese restaurant from the health inspectors (seriously and it's about an hour drive from here), so I have absolutely nothing to do for the next hour and 15 minutes.

I'm also really looking forward to yoga tonight.  I didn't think I would like bikram that much, but I really do!

  • LOL, I was just gonna start a post titled "where my ladies at?". I am super-slow at work today too. Only 2 weeks left in the office! Woot woot! The sadness is definitely starting to creep in though. Thankfully hubby & I will be too busy with visitors, parties, dinners, etc to dwell on it. Man, I am gonna miss NYC somethin' fierce! Crying

  • *shrug* I'm kind of in a mopey mood today. I'm supposed to go run after work today, but running lately has been really depressing.  I finished the c25k training program, and tried to continue building my endurance, but I ended up regressing to the point where I feel like I'm back where I started. :(  Literally broke down in tears during my last run. Not cool.

Other than that, I'm glad it's Thursday.  I'm loving my new blog (don't forget to subscribe!) and I'm really looking forward to celebrating Mom's day with my mom this weekend.  We're going to the Melting Pot. Mmmm....

Melting Pot in the words of Homer Simpson is:

  • Trying to save them from the health inspectors?  Awesome.  Is he sick or is is really that good?  A restaurant about 30 minutes from Indy was shut down a couple years ago because it turns out they were serving unlicensed meat.  It was anything gross (meat is meat to me since I don't eat it): it was deer.  There is a gross part, though: hunters were bringing it in, and the restaurant was laying it on newspaper on the kitchen floor--entire carcus--and slicing it up for cooking.  Deeeeeelightful!

  • I'm in my last 2 days as a Web Content Developer...I can't wait to get over into the library! I told my new manager I'm pregnant and she was excited for me and really chatty, which made me feel good. I know her boss really well so wasn't scared to tell him (I told him a few weeks ago), but I didn't know her well and she has been kind of odd through the whole hiring process (she was like...completely socially awkward) so I'm glad that she was so excited for me and Juan and also that we were able to have a normal conversation. It made me feel a lot better about establishing a good relationship...especially since she knows a TON of people in the library community and used to teach at my first choice school for my grad program!

Tomorrow is Juan's 27th b-day so we have a full social calendar this weekend...which I'm kind of disappointed about because I'm tired and want to relax and feel refreshed for the new gig on Monday. Luckily, I have more energy than I've had in the past few months, I'm hoping that keeps up.

OMG, that is sick. Really freaking sick.

  • Gross!  I don't know what exactly the problem with this place was, since the whole thing happened very suddenly, but I think it was behaviors they can change, like washing their hands more or something like that.  He had me call a bunch of his health inspector friends to try to get them to take a look at the place and give it a passing grade, but apparently he has to go to the capitol to sort something out.

Whatever the case, I'm not complaining about having the office to myself.

  • Felicidades, Juan!  Pasatela chido!  Ok, he probably doesn't know Mexican slang.  Here's one for him:  "Happy birthday to a Juan-derful man!"  hehe, I'm a dork :)

  • You are a dork....but funny... Stick out tongue  I've been wondering where everyone is today (board wise).  I have cramps....  And a chinese restaurant was closed near me once because they were serving fried kitty cat.... Ick!
  • Wondering where everyone is...was?  Whatever...

I love the Juan-derful man part :). My brother and father got a kick of out saying "He's the Juan" after we got engaged...like, "he's the one." Yeah...it wasn't funny then either :).

    He says gracias :).

    Ick!Ick!Ick!Ick!

Oh my god...I'm never eating chinese food again!

  • Ok, I'll contribute more...

That new Alabama Govna (yes, Govna) commercial ticks me off!  "We speak English."  That one.  You know why it ticks me off?  Because at least 10 times a day, I hear/read native English speakers saying/writing things grammatically wrong.  It's not just the typical "your" vs "you're" or "their" vs "they're" anymore.  Let me try to find an example: these boards are full of them.  Oh, here's one from this morning.  A blogger was writing about her house and thing on the house.  Rather than writing "the house's awnings," she wrote, "the houses awnings."  This wasn't just a typo either, I read "houses" over and over and over again on more than one entry.

    Long rant over.

  • oh ishy!!  Both for the deer and the cat!  lol - note to self.  Check out the kitchen of my fave spot.
  • I was out sick Tuesday so I've been playing catch up through this morning and still not feeling 100% so I've been doing my best to just focus on work.   I only have an hour left of the desk job but I'm struggling to keep my eyes open and I won't be home from teaching until about 8pm.  Eesh.  Thursdays are tough when energy's not 100%.

That makes me more sad than grossed out, but yeah, I'm never going to this particular restaurant again.

Oh my God, yes.  When I read about that and saw the "We speak English here," I wanted to tell him "No.  No, you don't."

  • Well geeze, I'm never eating out again or maybe I'll just go veg when I do Indifferent

On lighter notes, I've been enjoying the weather here in NC and took my pup to the dog park today.  I love our dog park because all the dogs are so social and want everyone to pet and greet them.

H is the process of looking for jobs back home and we have a good lead! woot!

Finally, my BFF just announced she is PG!!  She has been trying for the past 7 months and she is about 10 weeks along.

  • super slow and super boring day here at work. that's ok, I am planning out my daughters 3rd bday party for next weekend. I also have cramps and would just love to go home and take a nap.
  • Hope you feel better Michelle.  And Kalya..would yoou like to split a bottle of midol?  I just woke up from a 3 hour nap, UH!  Stupid cramps from hell...
  • you know I haven't had midol since like, 8th grade and they are still just as worse as back then. do they work for you?
  • The restaurant stuff is grossing me out.

This one might even be more gross than those though.  The local Dairy Queen shut down several years ago because it was just plain gross and run by teenagers who did a lot of things they should not do in a food setting.  They cleaned it up, hired all new staff (more teens) and re-opened.  Not long after that it was shut down permanantly.  Among other things they found that someone had ejaculated into the burger meat. Ick!

NO WAY!!!  Oh that is really really disgusting.  I've never eaten anything other than icecream at Dairy Queen but... Ick!

  • yep.... the guys who did it bragged about it to everyone so I think they cought it before it was served.  I hope so anyway.

Actually it doesn't, but Naproxen does!  We can split a bottle of that....And while on the topic of ridiculous and disturbing behavior in restaurants, did you all ever here about the girl who caught a STD from eating chinese food?  When they tested her food, they found that 3 different men had ejaculated into her food and she had contracted herpes...
