Marketing/Advertising in ABQ

Hey ladies,

FI has been relocated and we will be moving to ABQ after the wedding in Dec.  I am currently working in an ad agency in DC and would love to continue to stay in the advertising field, but unfortunitly we do not have any offices in NM.  Does anyone know of any agencies in the area?  I am currently working in Pharma, but am willing to go to any other area (I would prefer to not go to sales).

Thanks for your help and I look forward to meeting all of you!

Re: Marketing/Advertising in ABQ

  • Welcome to you, too, in advabce!!!

NM doesn't really have a lot of pharmacutecials - we only have J&J Ethicon. (I assume that's what Pharma is)Most of the state industry is government (national labs, fed agencies, military and state givernment), tourism, jewelry manufacture/metal work, high tech spin-offs, etc.

I think my ld company used them.
I think they're the biggest firm in NM, they've won several Addys, are the most edgy, have the largest national clientelle.

I know about them because of several of the logos they have done around town that I like.

You probably want to look at NM Business Journal (http://www.nmbiz.com) and NM Business Weekly (http://albuquerque.bizjournals.com/albuquerque/) to get info on local businesses and ad agencies. Both have tons of articles on the local (predominantly ABQ) business scene. The ABQ Journal Business Outlook section also has some good info.
  • Thanks so much for the information!  I look forward to moving to the area.

  • It may be more PR and political, but also check out dw turner - www.dwturner.com

Oh and absolutely check out Esparza Advertising - www.esparzaadvertising.com.   I went to college with the founder and his background is in the medical field, and I believe a lot of the work that they do is geared to that clientele.

    Good luck!
  • Glad I could help. (And sorry for all the typos. One day I might finally learn to type!)

There is another great resource if you are more on the graphic design or digital arts side of advertising. UNM Continuing Ed has a great Digital Arts Conference each season. It's great for networking purposes. The website is http://dce.unm.edu/Events/Conference/DigitalArts_07_Workflow/index.cfm

Also, there is an active Adobe/Macromedia user group - http://www.nmaug.com/ . It's another great place for networking on the graffic end of advertisisng.

I have a friend who does marketing for the ABQ Chamber of Commerce. She recommended the NM Advertising Federation as a good source for you - http://www.nmadfed.org/ . It sponsor networking events and has a membership directory you could use in your search when you move.

We're a slo board, but we're pretty friendly. Good luck with your moving plans. Stop back whenever you have any questions!
