What does your baby wear to sleep?

Now that it's getting warmer here, I'm trying to figure out what to put Bella in to sleep. She's also outgrown all but 2 of her pj's! Big girl! She's wearing 12 month clothes already!

She used to sleep in a onesie and a nightgown/pjs. Now that seems to warm so I've dropped the onesie. I don't want her to get cold at night but I don't want her to get too warm in pjs either... what do you put your LO in to sleep at night?

Re: What does your baby wear to sleep?

  • Something similar to this.
  • Libby runs hot (except for her hands) so we've been dressing her in a onesie with socks on or a light weight sleep and play.  She still likes to be swaddled with her hands out so when we do we don't use the sleep and play.  If we're running the a/c we will though.  And if we're not swaddling her we either cover her with a thin, woven cotton baby blanket or put her in a Halo sleep sack (not a big fan of these though...the zippers poke her in the face).
  • It's still kinda cold here... We put Alexa in a long-sleeved footed sleeper and then in a short sleeved cotton Halo sleep sack. We used to put her in a fleece sleep sack but downgraded to cotton when it got warmer.

On the handful of nights where it's been really warm and we haven't had the AC cranked, we put her in a onesie and then in the cotton sleep sack. But usually we have the AC on so it's never too warm.

She's in a lightweight sleep and play now and has been sleeping for a couple of hours. She used to wake up at night because she'd get cold. It's hard to gage because DH runs hot and I run cold. I always have a thin crocheted blanket in her crib and  a receiving blanket (she rubs her face on it and has since she's tiny). She's too long for a sleep sack now and she likes to roll around.

I was debating about the thing mie posted, I saw some at Gap and they were SO cute but are they that much better than a short sleeve onesie? I mean I know it has "shorts" that cover the legs a tiny bit but I hate investing the money in those little sleep outfits if they aren't much more than a onesie with shorts... any options? I'm heading to the consignment store tomorrow... did I mention I can't wait for garage sales! Kids grow SO fast!!

  • she sleeps in cotton footed PJs and then i put a knit blanket from MIL over her from the waist down... we keep our house fairly warm though.  sometimes i put her in a sleep sack, but not always.
  • Kaya runs pretty warm so when it's been warm we have her in a short sleeve onesie and the SwaddleMe summer swaddlers.  Sometimes I even just swaddle her with only her diaper on.  Last night was cold, though, so I had her in a long sleeve/pant onesie.  Since I'm gonna try not to swaddle her tonight I'll put her in one of those zip up fleece gowns, probably with nothing underneath because it's warmer tonight.

I wouldn't get shortie pjs...just stick with the onesie and if needbe add a pair of socks.  As for clothes...I hear you...do you have  Just Between Friends nearby?  I think they have one in Milwaukee.

  • Ashton just wears a onesie to sleep.
  • She usually sleeps in a long sleeved onesie and long pants (like leggings) ... Now that it's getting warmer we do a onesie with long pants. I started putting a blanket over her belly and legs, but mostly because she doesn't move too much when she sleeps
  • My LO runs warm too - I tried the onesie with the cotton sleep sack, but now we're in a short sleeve/short leg sleep& play without the onesie underneath.  but with socks! lol yes, he looks silly, and he usually (taking after his mommy) kicks off the socks during the night, but he's not cold. :)

My 11 week old sleeps in his Halo sleepsack swaddle still, and is plenty comfortable temp-wise.  I love the Halo SleepSack, but unlike this post, have not had any trouble with the zipper poking my LO in the face.  In fact, I love that it zips from top to bottom so that it doesn?t come close to my little one?s chin.  My oldest, now 3, slept in Halo sleepsacks for a long time, (cotton in summer, fleece in winter).
