lets liven up the board...Question

What has the hardest adjustment been since getting married?

For me: my husband is a police officer and he works nights and it has really been hard for me...

okay now your turn!

Re: lets liven up the board...Question

  • In all honesty, the biggest adjustment has been calling myself my married last name. lol DH and I have lived together for almost 3 years so there wasn't anything emotional or at home that needed to change. But I continuously have to catch myself from saying my maiden name.

This!  It didn't seem real (even though it's changed with the SS office and on my DL) until my work email changed over to my married name.  Once it was constantly in my face all the time is when I had my "oh sh!t moment".  I still have to stop myself from writing my maiden name when I sign my name on credit card receipts, as well.

Same! Work has been an adjustment I work as a recruiter for a University and my name is in a lot of places so it has been weird now having everything changed on our website, promotional materials etc.

DH had an appearance last Saturday, he got to do the gun (start off) for a 5K race for Charity. I usually don't go with him becuase it is PR stuff for his team so usually they just want the player there but I got to go. It was so weird being introduced to everyone as his wife!

  • The whole name change thing, I haven't changed it for work yet, so I'm managing two last names at this point, which is really weird.

  • Yeah the name change thing. Everything else has seemed to be a breeze. Oh and sharing money is an adjustment.
  • I have a confession... I have been dragging my feet changing my name.  I am (still) having a bit of a hard time swallowing that change.

Other than the name change, nothing else has been much of an adjustment since we lived together for a year and a half before the wedding.  Saying "wife" and "husband" has been a fun change though. :)

This! I haven't officially changed my name yet, as we are waiting until after our honeymoon so my passport and license match but people have started calling me by my new last name and I have to think about it!

  • In Chile people don't change names (me being Emily DHLastName would imply I'm his sister), so we won't do that until we move to the US in a few years. Nothing's been a huge adjustment, honestly, since we've lived together for 2.5 years, but I have definitely slipped up and said "fiance" or even "boyfriend" a few times - keep forgetting he's my husband now!
  • I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I haven't had any adjustments to make!  We were already living together and I won't change my name, so nothing new on that front.

Only real change is that after a year without health insurance, I got my card for DH's plan yesterday.  Woot!

  • The name change thing... OMG.  I forgot how many things I'd have to change!  I keep forgetting to send a copy of the license to my credit card company, so people are checking my ID against my credit card and they don't match... Embarrassed Whoops.

  • Yeah it was fun sending an email out to ALL of my contacts telling them I'm changing my name and that my email is changing as well. The nameplate on my cube still has my maiden name (it takes a few days to get a new one) and Friday when they were handing out paystubs, the lady was confused because my nameplate said one thing but my stub said another. LOL

Oh yeah, and I got a refund from my car insurance that's in my maiden name but I changed my name on my bank account so I have to go in and make sure I can cash my check. GRRR!!!

Other than that, I love being married :)
