Hamas: 'Jewish lobby' caused financial crisisFawzi Barhum in a statement released Tuesday blamed the "Jewish lobby" in the United States for putting into place and controlling "bad administrative and financial management and a bad banking system."
Barhum added that the Jewish lobby "controls the U.S. elections and defines the foreign policy of any new administration in a manner that allows it to retain control of the American government and economy."
Anti-Semitic Internet posting, most relating to Jews and the economy, have increased dramatically on regular Web site message boards since the crisis erupted, the Anti-Defamation League reported last week.

Hamas will not recognize Mahmoud Abbas as Palestinian Authority president after Jan. 8.A resolution approved Tuesday by the ruling Hamas legislators in the Gaza Strip demands that Abbas call for elections to be held in three months, when Hamas says his term is over, the Associated Press reported. Fatah says he has one year left in his term.
Abbas was elected president in January 2005 and his Fatah Party currently controls the West Bank. In 2006, the Islamic Hamas movement won parliamentary elections and in June of the following year took over Gaza.
Hamas says it will install its own temporary president in January if Abbas does not call new elections, according to the AP.

1) Sadly, Hamas isn't the only group trying to capitalize on the crisis with anti-semitism

2) Great. More chaos.

A question about the Hamas resolution would be a great topic for the presidential debate tonight. I'd be interested to hear what the candidates think the U.S. response should be. (But I'm not sure whether we'd even respond since Hamas isn't considered a legitimate govt body?)
Thanks for clueing us in. I hadn't heard anything about this.
