Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I posted this earlier but DD because I wanted to reword it ...

Anyways, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)
Kids?
Pets?
Big vacations?
Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Re: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  • Great poll.....

Living Situation: Same city, same house, which we bought for the schools!

Kids: I guess Alexa would be 5 and in kindergarden and we might also have a 2-3 year old! :-)

    Pets: Not sure.

    Big vacations: Not sure.

Other plans: Maybe DH will have a new job that pays more? And maybe I will either be at the same job or working part-time to spend more time with kids.

In 10 years....... Wow! No idea! I can't think that far!

  • Great poll, but I think my answers might be kind of boring!

Living Situation:  Still here!  We love our house, neighborhood, and school system.  Barring winning the lottery, it will be a veeeery long time from now when we move, if ever!

Kids:  Ideally, a second LO will have joined this one by then.

Pets:  We currently have two cats, but I would be surprised if the Paija (the older one) made it that long, seeing as she's already about 13.  We would probably get another cat by then.  We'd love a dog, but I just don't see that in our future with the added time commitment.

Big Vacations: doubtful, sadly.  The most we'd do is a trip to CA to visit the ILs.  When the kids are a little older we'd like to travel more, both with and without them.  Until then, just smaller long weekends away.

Other plans: Dan will probably have a new job by then (he might in the next year).  I'd like him to get a job with health insurance, so I have the possibility of staying home with the kids (right now I'm the only insurance holder for our family).

In 10 Years?  Honestly, I don't see much different from the 5-year mark, except that we'd all be older!  I know this probably sounds really boring to some people, but I'm excited for some stability and just growing older with my family around me!  :)

  • Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc) Living in Ottawa (not Toronto)
Kids? Well, I'd best get started on this - one with another on the way
Pets? We're cat people. I want two so I can name them Pickwick and Nickelby.
Big vacations? Absolutely. I took my first overseas trip when I was 5 and my brother 3. My in-laws live in England. We'll be making regular jaunts across the pond. Oh! And we're hitting up HI next summer for a family reunion.
Any other plans? (new job, business venture) Phil will hopefully have his CA after summer 2012!
  • This is purely fantasy/speculation but we are working towards this and I think it isn't too unrealistic.

Living situation? First of all, DH and I will be living in the same country!  That being said, I'm hoping we'll be working in Japan with possibly a kid (and one in the oven)

    Kids? See above

Pets?  I loooove pets but with our plan to live overseas, I wouldn't want to put that stress on our pet(s) by moving, being quaratined when moving to a new country, etc.

Big vacations?  In 5 years, we're hoping to have travelled to Turkey, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and possibly Morocco.  DH and I have been to these countries separately, but we'd love to see them again together.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)  I'd like to be teaching.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?  2 kids, back in Vancouver, or living in some other country...  I'm interested in Germany or Vietnam.  Kinda random, I know...

  • Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc) Hopefully owning a house in whatever city the military sends us to after here - I have NO clue where it will be... hoping more towards the West coast if not Hawaii.

Kids? Possibly starting to have kids around this time.... maybe already have one that's very young... possibly.

Pets? My Mama Mia will still be around, being the princess and lover she is always is.  Maybe have another dog around or a kitten (Mia LOVES cats but we'll have to get a kitten who will grow up with her)

Big vacations? Being that we're stationed in Europe - lots hopefully!  We hope to go to Ireland, Italy, Belgium, England, Morocco, Egypt, Greece, etc.  After we leave Europe, hopefully a tropical vacation.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture) DH will have a job he loves (don't know what it will be or where it will be but once we leave Europe, hopefully he'll be able to find a dream job easier).  In about 3 years I have to decide whether or not I am going to reenlist in the military... so I may or may not in the military but I'll still be in the same line of work - which I love.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years? No freaking clue.

  • Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

Hopefully living in a house we've bought, in a beachside town in Australia. When I say town, I mean somewhere OUT of the city with lots of fresh air, lotssss of beach/coastline, a Sunday market, beautiful neighbours, lots of organic produce.

Where the kids can run around in bathers, their blonde sun-streaked hair full of dried saltwater from their morning swim/surf.

That's IF we're still in Australia. We have plans to move to Canada in 5 years or so. If we move to Canada then we will aim to live out of the city there also, in a similar kind of town, hopefully close to a lake.

    Kids?

Other then my two girls....maybbbbeeeee another one. From 4 months into knowing my husband, I told him I saw us having three kids; two girls and THEN a boy..in that order.

    Pets?

I SO cannot wait until we're settled in our OWN house someday because I want to get the girls a golden lab or a golden cocker spaniel dog!

    Big vacations?

Josh and I want to finally go on a proper honeymoon to some tropical place, maybe Bora Bora or the like. I want to travel to MOST places so I won't bother listing them all here lol.

Our goal has always been to take the girls travelling. Visit places all around the world where the girls can see how other people live. Take them into villages in Nepal or Africa for example, get to know the locals, they can play with the local kids etc.

We feel it would be such an amazing education for them.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

Getting my photography business up and running. I want to run a successful wedding/portraiture business for awhile. At the same time, I would love to study photojournalism and eventually travel around as a freelance journalist.

I want to take shots that people will remember, will have their hearts broken by, be touched by, merely by showing a truth about the world or the human race that has not been shown in a particular way before...

    Grand vision huh lol.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Enjoying my family, seeing them flourish and living happily and healthily. Financially comfortable. Comfortable in my own skin. Living by the beach somewhere in a open and airy Balinese style house. Still writing and shooting.

Geeze, I just realised that, in 10 years time, I will be 45. Wowzer, I still feel like I'm 21 and waiting for my life to start sometimes lol. Isn't that silly?!

  • Living situation? same city, same house is our plan.  We love our house and are planning to build a garage by the end of the year.

Kids? I think we would like 3 kids, so I think one more within 5 years would be the plan.

Pets? probably not, but we sometime talk about getting a dog.  I would like to fence our property before that happens though.

Big vacations? haven't really talked about it.  Not planning a huge trip or anything but do plan to take annual family trips to HI, Disneyland, AZ, or other places.  We are saving our Hawaiian Air miles for a trip to the S. Pacific, not sure when that will happen, but it is something we always talk about.  Also need to visit ILs in the midwest about once a year.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture) nope.  It will be a big deal when DH becomes a partner at this office but if that doesn't happen then he will open his own office at some point.

I hope my job keeps me that long, but given it's political nature they might not so we always discuss a back up plan so it wouldn't totally catch of .  Depending on how much experience I have I would really work on becoming a Judge in my specific area of the law or I might go back to school to get a PhD because I would really love to be a professor (in my field).  Downside would be that both of those options might make us have to relocate (still in the same state though).

OHHHH, and this is big - in 5 years my student loans will be completely paid off (unless we both loose our jobs or something).  It is a huge monthly payment (considering I am paying them off quickly).

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

About the same, possibly with a summer house/property  :)

  • Anyways, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

Living in Hawaii.  We have a house there but it's tiny so we will probably tear it down and rebuild within the next 2 years.

    Kids?

Maybe we'll have one more, but not more than that.  If we have another, I'd like it to be within the next 2 years or so because I want them to be close enough in age that they'll be close and be able to play together and entertain each other.

    Pets?

Our Ellie is only 1 1/2 so she'll still be kickin.  I don't know if we'll ever get another dog after her, but we'll see.

    Big vacations?

Planning to go to Japan in 5 years.  I'd also love to go to Disneyland or Disney World, maybe once a year.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

I hope to be doing photography professionally, at least part time.  I'll probably continue working as an RN to keep up my skills just in case I need it to fall back on at some point.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hmm...still in Hawaii, enjoying life surrounded by family and friends, and doing lots of outdoorsy, active things with our kid(s).

  •

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc) We just buoght a new house so I do see us living here for at least another 10 years unless there's a huge real estate boom in 5 years.
Kids? We are not planning to have any more children after the one in my tummy gets here. We want to travel with her.
Pets? For sure...MH really wants a dog and since I never had pets I really want our child to have one or two. No cats though....I'm really allergic to them.
Big vacations? Going to Puertpo Rico next year and then Hawaii a few years later. Hopefully we can do a Mediteranean cruise in the next ten years.
Any other plans? (new job, business venture) I'm working real hard towards a proimotion so that hopefully MH can quit his job and persue his passion. His current job is taking a toll on him physically and I don't want to be pushing him around in a wheel chair in our retirement.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years? I don't like planning this far in advance...who knows what will be going on there. I just want to be as happy in ten years as I am today.

  • Anyways, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc) - in the house that we're hopefully buying this year (same city)

    Kids? - 2!

Pets? - probably not.  MH really wants a cat (he had one growing up, i only had fish), but we're both allergic. we might consider one of those non-allergenic cats, but we'll see

Big vacations? - hrm...probably not.  we've talked about going to Italy or somewhere else as a babymoon, but we're running out of time if we really want to make that happen, and we want 2 kids in the next 5 years, haha.  seeing as how neither of us have actually planned anything.  definitely planning on HI, disneyworld, etc though

Any other plans? (new job, business venture) - no...i may not have a job by then, we'll see.  we've agreed it will be up to me if i want to stay home for a bit after kids

& where do you see yourself in 10 years? - no idea!  can't really think that far ahead, but hopefully in the same house, just older, but just as happy and content, if not more so!

  • Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

Same city/area but hopefully a house of our own (we're currently renting).

    Kids?

One more.  Or at least one more pregnancy, if I have twins or multiples, that'd be okay, I think.

    Pets?

Hopefully the ones we have will still be around!

    Big vacations?

At least one trip to Hawaii in 2013!

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

DH will be done with school and through his career transisition.  Also a boob reduction and tummy tuck for me!

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

All of the above and hopefully more financially secure/stable, relatively debt-free and able to take regular family vacations and put our children in private school.

  • Living situation?  Should be the same

Kids? We're keeping the one we have. Stick out tongue

Pets? We're keeping our cat, too Stick out tongueStick out tongue

    Big vacations? Hawaii always

Any other plans? (new job, business venture) No plans for change in the next 5. I'm stuck. The toughest thing for us is that I have shared custody of my daughter with my evil ex. Currently, he is trying to change her school to one by his house. It is inferior. The only reason he wants the change is for his convenience. If we go to court, he will not win... but, it is the process that is a pain. It is a constant battle. He always finds something to fight about and is very controlling. I feel locked into the next several years b/c I have to deal with him.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years? YAY! 10 years is the magic #. My daughter will no longer be a minor! She'll be 18! I am looking forward to the day that ex and I have no contact. NO CONTACT! I imagine life being much less stressful. In a dream world, I would love to have either a house on the beach or a big property with a photography business spread out all over it. I don't know how other photographers do it (must be mixed zoning). I have seen where they have their house, a photo studio and several photo spots throughout their property. The outdoor spots include ponds, streams, fountains and gardens. It looks ideal. Someday.

  • Anyways, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

in 5 years DH will finally be done with his training programs and starting to work!! we hope to move to CA to be near my family.  he is ok w/living in CA but isn't big on it, but it was the "deal" we made when I agreed to live for another 5 years here in Dallas (total of 7 years altogether)....plus when he asked my dad for my hand in marriage, my dad made him promise that we'd eventually move to CA ;)  it is hard living somewhere all alone with a baby and it will be nice to finally be close to some family.

    Kids?

maybe we will have one more but I am still not sure on this. definitely no more than 2 kids total.

    Pets?

this makes me sad b/c there is a very high likelihood that in 5 years all of our pets may be gone :(  one of my cats I am certain will have passed by then..he has a heart condition and on average most cats die w/in 5 yrs of diagnosis (it's been 3 yrs since he was first diagnosed).  the other cat is about 8 yrs old so there is some chance he'll get old and pass away but he could very well still be with us too. same goes for the dog who is 7 yrs old right now.  if my one cat does pass away, then i would love to get another kitten that will be dog friendly...usually when they are raised around a dog they are good w/them but I already had my cats when we got married and they were introduced to DH's dog

    Big vacations?

we will probably take some family trips with miss A, esp to Disney as she gets older :) otherwise we definitely plan to take at least one or two trips with just the two of us (leaving her w/the grandparents), not sure where though - definitely somewhere beachy :)

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

I will probably continue to work part time, and maybe when DH starts working, I may become a SAHM.  DH will probably go work in a big hospital or something, as his specialty will be pediatric endocrinology so there will only be jobs in big hospitals for him

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

wow, 10 years?? that is hard to imagine my little baby girl being 10 yrs old!!! I am not sure where we'll be in 10 years, aside from still being in CA.  probably not that much will be different from where I see us in 5 yrs, w/the exception of us all being older ;)
  • Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

Probably living in OR still. I've talked to MH about moving elsewhere for a while, just for the fun of it. But I don't think that he'd want to live anywhere else but here. Our families are both here and he loves his job.

    Kids?

Maybe one? Hahaha, not sure on this one yet.

    Pets?

We should still have our little Yorkie in 5 years. But not planning to add anymore pets...anytime soon.

    Big vacations?

Omigosh. I ALWAYS want to go on vacation. We're hoping to vacation to Thailand at the end of this year w/some friends. Also, MH hasn't been to Korea yet to visit my extended family so we'll probably do that in a couple of years. It would be great to go back to Japan and see his family as well. And then there's always places in Europe, the Carribean, Austrailia...hehe I could go on, and on.

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

I would love to get into the photog business as well. Maybe do it on the side and have my RN stuff to back me up. I think that I would really enjoy it. I started out doing a lot of photog stuff in HS and I'm still pretty passionate about it! Otherwise, I still think about going back to get my MS in Nursing. Maybe CRNA? Or midwife.

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Buahaha. I have no idea. Maybe a couple of kids? Hopefully, I figure out by then what I want to be when I "grow up."

  • hi hi hi! great poll! =)

Anyways, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Living situation? (Same city, same house, etc)

prolly same area. hopefully different house. we have a 2 bedroom townhome now.. which leads me to....

    Kids?

i would hope we would have a couple.. whether it be natural or adoption

    Pets?

sadly no. if anything we would have fish. hahaha something low maintenance. =)

    Big vacations?

i am the type of person who has to vacation every year. we will most likely be going back and forth between norcal and socal. maybe a trip to the east coast, a drive to seattle... and we spend TGs in vegas every year...

Any other plans? (new job, business venture)

have no clue. i would hope that my career would be more stable... it will be about 10 years of practicing...

& where do you see yourself in 10 years?

all of the above... i hope to continue to contribute more to my extended fam and to my community....
