Has anyone used a POD? Pros, cons? It seems to me the only cons are the price and the fact that your stuff is stored in some warehouse so you don't have access to it.
I'm thinking ahead right now, hoping that our house will sell quickly once we put it on the market, or at least before we find a house to move into. I'm not looking forward to going back to an apartment, but we'll deal with it for a few months or so, looking at houses.
Re: PODs for storage
And I'm curious, how much are those?
I'm finding more online...
The price depends on the size, but the medium or large would be either $150 or $200 a month. The month that they deliver it for you to load stuff up it's about $100 more (some type of delivery charge), same for when they drop it off. It looks like the monthly price starts to drop after 6 months of storage.
I guess if you need something out of it, you can go to the warehouse to get it. So maybe that's not as much of a negative.
I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth not dealing with the hassle of a moving truck. It would be sooo nice to just load everything into it in our driveway, and then it wouldn't matter where we move to, it would show up at that driveway.
We're looking at a LOT of different areas in Pittsburgh, so we'd just have to go with a storage place near our house to make at least one end of this easier.

We have a lot of crap. I need to figure out what size storage space we would need and how much that would cost compared to the POD. Someone at work told me they thought it was equivalent, which surprises me. I haven't even started looking at what size storage space we need. Those $50 ones will be way too small for us though, other than for when we box stuff up to "de-clutter" our house.
Has anyone actually used a POD?

I don't know much about PODS but we've had our stuff in a storage unit since we moved in with ILs. It's $145/month which isn't bad. We only put things in there we knew we'd never need (like extra furniture, kitchen stuff, books) we did store a couple things in there that we used during the holidays but other than that we hardly ever have to go there.
As far as moving out goes, we thought about moving all of our stuff into ILs garage before the movers get here but the unit is about 10 minutes away, it isn't all that full (at least it's not full top to bottom but it is front to back) and it would take us way longer than an hour which is about all it should take the movers since everything in there is already packed for a move.
