How would you pronounce this name?
I just read a discussion on a blog that piqued my interest regarding the name Sawyer. I have only ever said this one way and was surprised by the other pronunciation.
So - how do you pronounce Sawyer?

Really??
I've always said Saw-yer and always heard it pronounced that way as well.

this
He, I say loy-yer. Or sometimes law-yer, but mostly loy-yer.
How do you say penguin?
Lucy Elizabeth 10.27.12
ha, that's cute.
I mostly say it like pen-(g)win -- very sublte g.

Soy-yer
Loy-yer
Oddly enough, though, when I read Sawyer, I think my internal voice says saw-yer, but I don't say that when I say it aloud.

saw-yer
That's how they say it on Lost! Haha!
Saw-yer? Really? Like, I saw-yer mom at the store?
It's Soy-yer. And loy-yer. And pen-gwyn. That's how they say it in all the movies where characters don't have accents. I trust Hollywood. (ha)
Hehe, this is my usual frame of reference too. And I think I get bonus points because I had two New Englanders, a partial Midwestern, and a CA transplant from TX tell me I'm pretty accent-less.

This Chicago girl agrees on all counts.
This CA transplant from TX says soy-yer, loy-yer, and pen-gwyn.
Also, even when I had a thick southern account, I never said saw-yer or law-yer.
It must definitely be a northern/southern thing..
it is saw-yer, law-yer, and ping-win ha
