Re: Update on you..
Yay for late night posts!
1) Work is going ok, I just started my new job today (Monday) and I felt very overwhelmed. I know that will go away as soon as I understand what I'm doing, but I hope the exhaustion will get better soon.
2) Family life is good, between me getting a job and DH getting a well deserved promotion, we don't see each other a lot right now but careers are finally moving forward. Kitty is still having issues biting, but hopefully the new toys we bought her will help.
3) Frustrations include dealing with me not working for a while, and not knowing what it is that I want to do with my life.
4) At this point, no real travel plans for the summer. We have a few weddings to go to this summer, but that's about it. We used up all of our vacation time for the cruise in January. I'd like to get away for a weekend tho if we can.
5) I'm attempting to not kill the plants and flowers I bought this past weekend. DH and I actually have a bet to see how long it takes for me to kill them. I'm crossing my fingers I can keep them alive til the 4th of July.
I'll be a little MIA since I'm now working full time, still doing Tastefully Simple, and taking classes full time. Don't have too much fun without me!
HI!
1) My "work" has been looking for work, nurturing those two bosses, and this week, tearing up the living room carpet to reveal the beautiful hard wood floor.
2) The family is all right. There's a headcold that keep recycling, and last week my deaf-in-one-ear husband had an infection in the good ear. Other than that, we're loving spring, and spending a lot of times outside. My extended family: last week, my sister had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic that put her in the hospital for 4 days. Crazy stuff.
3) frustrations: it's rough on the ego to send a gazillion resumes and hear... nothing. And I'm still waiting for the city comission to vote on chickens. And Willa and Henry have daily battles over a silly item. They get along all but 10 minutes of their awake time, but those 10 minutes... bah.
4) travel: we'll spend some time at Higgens Lake, that's all that's planned right now.
5) my garden is pretty settled, so we're doing fruit, veggie and herb maintence (parsley, mint and rosemary in pots today). With moving on the table (maybe? no news here) I'm not sinking much $ into nonedible plants.
Other: I miss y'all. Now that the tax return is back, we might be more motivated to get a home laptop. I'll be honest; as much as I miss computer time during the day, it's super nice to have gained some extra time when the other computer died.
1) How is working going?? Work is going OK. I got the maternity leave time off I requested, and an adjusted work schedule when I come back. No work from home or a remote office, but I'll take what I can get at this point.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Family life is good. Just working on extending mine. hehe. My parents are doing well, same with my siblings, my in-laws are doing well too. All is quiet on the home front.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Well, I'm kinda frustrated with the gestational diabetes thing. I failed my one hour glucose test, so I have to go back for the three, I mean, FOUR hour test now. Hopefully I don't have it, but I was expecting to just pass the one hour no problem. It's annoying b/c I feel like I've been doing well with my eating/diet, I'm not overweight in general. It's all kind of a pain in the @ss. And you know what, I don't even care that I'm b!tching about it, b/c I haven't complained once during this entire pregnancy, and being pregnant is no picnic.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Hopefully going to Toronto over Memorial Day weekend for one last hoorah sans baby.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) Gardening/landscape is one of my favorite parts of the spring and summer. This year I'll be doing the bare minimum though. My back is killing me already, so I'm not going to be able to keep up with it all further down the road. My mom said she'd help me put some flowers in, so I'll still have some, just not as many as I like. As long as I have some, I'm happy though.
1) How is working going??
2) How is family life - immediate, extended?
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Other than #1, not really
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Always! We just got back from Miami, are headed to Gatlinburg for our anniversary, are going to visit a friend in Ohio over July 4, and are taking a cruise in August
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) Does watering the houseplants count?
We went to MI Adventure last summer and it was so fun. It isn't like Cedar Point or anything, but I think it's a fun way to spend a day.
1) How is working going?? Eh, ok. We worked until 10pm last night doing hard labor in the warehouse (I personally started at 3:00 and worked until 10 when everyone else started at 6:30 ish), and I'm here again this morning. I'm exhausted, but I like the overtime. Friday our computers crashed BAD. We spent the whole day waiting for them to be restored, but they never did so we had to do everything by hand for our orders. We didn't get our computers up and running until yesterday, but then we had to restart our server twice. Makes you think about how much we rely on computers.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Fine. Nothing to report
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Getting our bathroom done! AAAHHH! We finally got the bathtub in, but not working, and the tile on the floor. Now it's tile on the walls and in the shower.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Not sure yet.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) A lazy one. Haha. I plan on buying pre planted patio pots for my front yard, and then putting some impatiens in my widow boxes and calling it a day.
Anything else you want to add.
I'm exhausted! I may have said this already, but wow. I am tired!
1.) Still looking and not finding any place that's willing to give a interview. I do have a test to take for the city of GR next week though, but I'm not putting a lot of stock in it.
2.) SS cast came off and the DR's are really happy with the amount of healing that is going on. DH has had a bit of a slump recently but picked up a new client so that may have helped.
3.) Money, money, Money. Still a struggle to pay the bills, and sometimes they just don't get paid.
4.) Going to NJ to see me BFF. She made a deal with me that if she got a promotion she was up for she would fly me there and back. She got it. May make 2 trips. Dh is selling his Infinity G20 and there is a guy interested in it , he's in NJ.
5.) Basic curb appeal. I'm trying to redo the front flower bed. It's been a mess since we bought the house and I'm trying to do it very budget wise which means for mean using what I have and rearranging and splitting. I did add Daliah's this year.
1) How is working going?? Ehh. Reviews are this week and next. Eek.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Great! I'm loving life with my family right now. Tomorrow is our 3 yr wedding anniversary.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Nothing too stressful...just waiting to hear back from the bank on our house.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Vegas in a few weeks, and then we hope to be moving sometime in June.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) If we don't get the new house, we will probably stick to just mowing. If we do get the new house, we will definitely work on curb appreal.
1. Work- I'm enjoying my forced days off, in fact I'm not really sure I want them back.
2. Family- H has a huge cd collection, but it was arranged so that noone could find anything but him. I started the huge project of reorganizing them & he had a huge fit. We haven't been talking since Saturday. The kids are doing great though. OS definitely wants to spend the summer with his dad. YS hasn't decided yet.
3. See above.
4. H's kids are supposed to be coming for a few weeks. We're going back to Nashville in July for our anniversary/car show/H's reunion w/his Army buddies.
5. Gardening- The flowers I planted last year actually came back, so I ordered 3 ostrich ferns to go next to the porch. I'm taking the landscaping 1 step at a time.
1) How is working going?? ugh its ok. I have multiple jobs and I am running out of steam.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Ok could be better.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? A lot of stuff. Working on that right now and finally getting everything out and will try to be effective about it.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? No not really, can't afford it. Plan to make some fun dates with hubby, go to Grand Haven, go up to Petoskey a few times.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) I am not at all. But I just bought a flower holder and put some flowers in it last week for the porch and they are still alive.
1) How is working going?? Work is going great. I got approved to work 4-10's M-Th and my first week doing it is going really well. I'm kicking off a few new wellness challenges this week and next too that I'm excited about. :-)
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Family is great - my Dad's been a big help with the deck and we're having a party this Saturday with both families and a bunch of our friends and I'm excited to see everyone.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Our deck railing/ballasters were supposed to be in last week Wednesday. Then they were supposed to be in yesterday. We're still waiting. We have a deck 10 ft off the ground with no railing. Did I mention we're throwing a DECK party this Saturday? Hopefully the rails come or nobody falls off.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? We'll take advantage of our 3 days weekends with a few summer hiking and brewery trips in Michigan and then 2 weeks in Ireland at the end of summer. Also going to Milwaukee and hopefully Cincinnati at some point. Maybe Washington DC too, but we might save that for fall.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) Curb appeal. I want to plant at least one tree this year.
1) How is working going?? - It's going okay. Very busy.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? - Immediate family life is great. Extended family on my side is great. Extended family on DH's side is not so great. Lots of frustrations going on there. But MIL & FIL are coming to visit this weekend, which should be... interesting.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? - Nothing major right now, unless you count my issues with the inlaws.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? - We're going to Chicago for a couple of days later this month. We'll go up north for a long weekend over the 4th of July. And then this fall we're planning to do a nice vacation but still don't have a destination yet.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer? - Curb appeal and a container vegetable garden.
1) How is working going?? Great! I love my job. I've been here a bit over 3 years and have yet to dread coming into work.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? MH and Katie are great. My dad just got pulled to 2nd shift as a Supervisor after having been on days for year, I feel bad for him and my mom, she will be lonely without him. Hopefully it won't be long until he can get back on first. He's the head tool and die guy so he has to go where needed.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? No not really. Wish I had more time to keep up with my house cleaning.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Lots of camping planned. We'll also spend a few wedkends up at Torch Lake at the IL's summer home.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out). We actually got rid of Katie's wooden play set (gave to our neighbors for thise 2 kiddo's) so we have a nice big plot to start a garden. Katie and I are so excited to do this. She and I are HUGE veggie people so it will be fun!!
Anything else you want to add. We're in the process of building a new deck 16X33......man it's a lot of work!!! But will be so nice in the end. We had a small 12x12 before so the extra room will be nice!
We will be spending a weekend up there too this summer. :-)
I love it up there!! We love to go to the Spice Mill in Alden and of course Pearls and Chef Charles Pizza in Elk Rapids.
1) How is working going?? It's going. I'm really loving having Fridays off, but have started picking up sub jobs on them because I've missed it so much. I'm really, really hopeful that I'll have a job in the field I want to be in come this Fall, but only time will tell. For now, I'm just trying to make it work.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Family life is great. We've had the opportunity to see lots of family the past couple of weekends and it's been wonderful. My sis is coming in for Mother's Day so I'm excited to see her in a few days.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? My part time job. It just gets old, yesterday I stood up to a customer who was being condescending to me, and it felt AMAZING. Other than that, just trying to get our roof paid off...having to bookmark extra $$ for that instead of fun stuff makes me crabby occasionally.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Probably a friends weekend or two up North at the cabin, maybe some camping, a wine tour? Really nothing set in stone, no big vacations, but lots of little things in the works.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) A cheater of one. My dad is starting me a pot of snow snap peas, then passing them along to me when they start to grow. My uncle also dropped off some iris, they still haven't gone in the ground...
Anything else you want to add.
1) How is working going? Pretty well, except for one resident who is being a major thorn in my side.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? My parents-in-law are coming into town from Denver on Thursday, staying through the weekend. This will be only the second time they have come out to visit us since we got married (we always go out there) so I am not quite sure what to expect. The one good thing about not having a large apartment is that we don't have an extra bed or extra room, so they won't be staying with us. They chose this weekend for Tulip Time, however, and the weather looks awful. I really wish we could show them how beautiful the area is this time of year.
3) Any frustrations you are facing? We introduced a new cat to the family back in January and the two felines are STILL not getting along. I am losing hope that they ever will.
Also, a couple things with my two bosses are bothering me, but it's not anything I need to get into here.
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Heading a few states south for a wedding in a couple of weeks...spending a long weekend there, then visiting other friends as we make a slow journey northward to home. Then in June is our seventh anniversary. I don't think we're physically going anywhere for that one, since we've done so much traveling already this calendar year.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer (avoiding it at all cost, doing basic curb appeal, going all out) Gardener?? Renting + no lawn = no gardening.
1) How is working going?? It's still work I suppose. The other office lady is off for surgery, so I'll be getting an extra 8 hours for the next few weeks. I guess I can't complain about that.
2) How is family life - immediate, extended? Pretty good! I'm waiting patiently for nephew (well DH's nephew) to arrive. We thought he was going to make an appearance last week, SIL had to spend the night in the hospital. But he's being stubborn and doesn't want to come out just yet apparently. (she's 38 weeks, so anytime)
3) Any frustrations you are facing? Just getting impatient about finishing our nursery. DH doesn't seem very motivated to work on it unless I ask him, I hate feeling like a nag. We've been working on it for over a month now! My parents came up and helped us remodel the entire room (insulation, new drywall, the whole 9 yards). So now we're just down to finishing the painting and then rehanging the trim. I'm ready to have my house back and get this nursery done!
4) Any travel plan or fun things going on this summer? Probably not much if anything. DH and I have been trying to decide what we want to do for our anniversary next month. We talked about going to Mackinaw, or just going over to South Haven for a weekend. But at the same time we're trying to not spend $ before baby gets here since I plan to take some time off of work.
5) What kind of gardener are you going to be this summer ? I am not that great of a gardener. I love planting flowers and making our yard look nice. I just HATE pulling weeds. My flower beds are currently looking overrun by weeds. I wish I could have a full vegetable garden, but we have too many critters and trees in our yard, and like my flowers, it would probably just become over run with weeds.
