Carborro - Any similar areas?

Hi ladies!

I've been doing some exploration here in the last day or so, and was wondering - are there any other areas in the Triangle area that are similar to the feel of that community?  Easy to walk, lots of variety in shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc?

BTW - I think someone recommended Acme - we went there last night and LOVED IT!! Yum.

Re: Carborro - Any similar areas?

  • I will be honest and say that I think that Carrboro is unique in it's walkability, since you could live in Carrboro and walk to so much different stuff (the HT, all the different restaurants, the Farmer's Market, Weaver St. Market, parks, etc.). Carrboro also has a much more hippy-ish and liberal vibe than any other town in the Triangle. (Can you tell that I love Carrboro? I don't live there, but whenever we go I wish I did!)
  • One other thought- you could try looking in Hillsborough. The walkable area isn't quite as big but I think you could live near downtown and walk to a fair amount of stuff.
  • Thanks! :)  I've actually heard that from quite a few people.. it seems crunchy like my neighborhood in ATX, which we like.  Might have to take a closer look at the real estate around there..
