I am getting married in June and I am having a hair crisis. I made the mistake of cutting off my dreadlocks late last year, and now my hair is chin-length. I can pull it into a tiny ponytail, which is the only way it looks good AND I don't look boyish.
Ideally I would like a simple low bun for my wedding hairstyle. So I went to my fav salon last night to talk about extensions.........the 2 kinds they offer START at $300 and $600. While I can afford it, I just can't justify spending that kind of money on my hair, even for my wedding. And apparently the extensions last 8-10 weeks. I would pay $200 for extensions. My hair would also have to be dyed because you can't get my color in a box (trust me, I've tried).
I don't want to go to a different salon that's cheaper, and risk wasting money on extensions that look horrid.
So I don't know what to do.
*sigh* I've always hated my hair until the dreadlocks, and my mom hated them so much that I just cut them off so I wouldn't have to listen to the unending complaints. Now I realize that was silly....but I have to figure something out.
Any suggestions?!?!?!
TIA
Re: need hair help
If it were me, I would spend the money if I could afford it. Can you go to them and tell them you don't want to spend that much? That's what I would do. I would also call around and get quotes from other salons for backup saying "Hey XX Salon can do it for $XX, can you match it?" I know you said don't want to go to a salon where they are cheaper, but a friend of mine had extensions put in her hair for her wedding and they looked really good. She went to Cheeky Strut downtown GR, you could at least call their for a quote.
I really hate my short hair....and I am not wearing anything on my head. It's at a bad growing-out stage that wouldn't look good unless pulled back or trimmed....and like I said I dont' like it short and I really don't want to cut it....I feel my hair looks stupid unless it's in a ponytail or in dreads. lol
One of my gf's suggested we go look at clip-on extensions, Jessica Simpson brand? I may do that.
Also if anyone has more salon suggestions, that you'd trust for extensions, I could do some price shopping.
