Hey all,
I've popped on here before, but I want to actually introduce myself and come play! I'm in kind of an unusual situation - I'm actually recently engaged, but I'm getting married in Savannah and feel really old on the Knot, so I'm hoping you don't mind if I hang with you all over here. I feel married already, so it might not be that much of a stretch!
I'm Lauren, I'm 31, live in McCalla, and am getting my PhD from UA - but I'm an Auburn fan. :-) I have 2 cats and a pretty wide range of interests - I'm a fairly avid scuba diver and photographer, and I try to stay pretty active.
Can't wait to 'meet' you all!
Re: Newbie...kind of!
LOL...I think you make it Lauren #5 on this board!!!
It is nice to meet you...I am obviously, Lauren. LOL Welcome!

Blog!
Hi and welcome! I graduated from UA, but I live much further south now!
Wow...5 Lauren's?? That's funny - I never meet anyone named Lauren!
If it's easier, you can just call me Ren. That's what my FI calls me, and my friends have picked up on it...
Welcome!! I'm one of the other Laurens.
What are you getting your PhD in?? I just started my masters blaaaah! lol?
Yay for Lauren's! I'm way excited by this, lol...
I'm getting my PhD in Communication. I used to work in television news, but I quit to come back to school. I generally study politics, stereotypes/body image, and internet type things (especially when it has to do with politics).
What are you getting your Master's in?
Awesome! So what do you want to do when you're done with the PhD?
My Bachelor's was in Advertising/Public Relations. I worked in corporate marketing for 2 years and decided i needed something in a non-traditional office setting.
Sooo now I'm in school for my Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology. This is my first semester and I love it! Since I'm a non-background master's student it will take me an extra year to complete my degree, so it'll take 3 years in total, which kinda sucks, but oh well. It will be worth it in the end.
My hope is to go work at a University where I can do mostly research, but teach a class or two, just to stay sharp. This is the first semester I'm being a full time research assistant and not teaching, and I absolutely love not teaching. I'm stuck, because I pretty much NEVER want to go back and work in the corporate world ever again!
Calling you Ren will help..LOL. I'm another Lauren
I think I was only the second one back when I started here! Too funny.
I'm getting a Master's too, in Elem. Education. My B.S. was in Psychology, but now I'm back in school.
Hi ! I'm Tasha.
War Eagle !
