not pregnant, but people at work think I am.

I was reading Preggo rant and thought I'd post a not pregnant one.

I am maybe for the first time a school rumor. People at work seem to think I'm pregnant. I've been asked by 3 people and others smile at me and say hi and others won't let me carry heavy things. I was sick 2 weeks ago with the flu and took off two days. I also have been taking off days of work to see a surgeon, who is going to remove a benign mass in my breast. I didn't want to tell everyone about the upcoming surgery, so their minds lept to that I was keeping a prenancy a secret, I guess. Oh, and after I came down with the flu, my IBS made me bloat a lot. All better now, thanks to a new doctor.

It's all kind of funny, but yet a little annoying. I don't even know if the people who ask, believe me. Maybe, they just want something to gossip about. The next person who aske me, I kind of want to ask back, if I look that fat. The fact is that we're not trying until August, and I'm hoping all this doesn't lesson that moment.

So, any ideas of what to do? I'm hoping it'll all just fade away and they'll find something else to talk about.

Re: not pregnant, but people at work think I am.

  • I've been asked over the years if I was pregnant once or twice.  I think it's such a rude question in most cases, so I usually respond with something snarky to make the person feel like an idiot for asking.
  • LOL Amy! Musiscout, I am sorry people are pestering you! Someone started a rumour and now everyone is all over it! It's none of their business really, so I would not confirm or deny their suspicions!

  • That sucks that people are so rude and don't think before they say things! I'd also say something snarky back, just to make them feel stupid.
  • I've been asked if I was pregnant and I make sure to loudly say NOPE ITS JUST FAT THANKS FOR NOTICING
  • Adding my two cents late here, but the nerve of people really, is such a mystery they can even open their mouths and speak such rude non-sense! I agree with Lischika, I think it was, and not acknowledge it either way. You don't owe them any explanation and they will soon get the message!
