Re: **Whine Wednesday**

  • I have to hang out with my sister for Mother's Day and I am not particularly looking forward to that.

    Otherwise, life is good!

  • I missed my spin class yesterday because i pulled an all-nighter to get ready for this evening's event. So, i went this morning and the instructor sucked. Boo, i was bummed.

  • My co-worker and I have to share supplies and it drives me nuts.  I'm very organized and she isn't.  I plan ahead, she flies by the seat of her pants.  I clean things and put them away right after I use them.  She often will have things in her room, dirty, for weeks after she's done with them and I have to ask her for it and oftentimes clean it up in order to use it.  I've tried to talk to her about it but she won't change her ways.  It's really frustrating!
  • I just can't focus on work anymore, let alone dealing with other people's work... I am way to preoccupied with the baby coming.  Unfortunately there is a certain person I work with that is seriously driving me INSANE because he wants to do NOTHING and when I call him out he acts like I am being the biotch... dude, stop making ME get you in trouble... if he thinks I am picking up his slack he is TOTALLY mistaken.  I am too uncomfortable and sore to deal with his crap.

  • I am really ready for summer break. Last day of teaching is May 20 and with all of the crap that has been going on here w/ our contract, I'm ready to throw in the towel. And kiddos have been off.the.wall. Every single one of them. :(

  • DH is taking his sweet time finishing projects in the nursery. Meanwhile I have cleaned out all the baby stuff so things are everywhere. Like the swing is in our guest bathroom, and I can't even get to the laundry room. Yes I know stuff will be everywhere once LO arrives, but my laundry room will not be filled to the brim with baby stuff! He should have done this over two weeks ago. He has promised that tonight is the night to finish stuff up so I can move stuff back in.

Also, I found an awesome deal on a crib ($100 for a brand new Graco) but he keeps avoiding buying it, citing money issues. Things are not that tight, and a crib is a necessity.  Look at my ticker, time's running out and we need a crib!

  • I am just dead tired all of the time. Also, my DH has been having some inner ear issues that cause his ears to pop all the time, and he feels like crap. The ENT says time is the only solution...REALLY?!?! UGH! So he is going to try acupuncture bc nothing OTC or prescription works. Needless to day, after 6 months, we are fed up!

I WISH my last day teaching is May 20th.  We don't end until the middle of June with teaching and the end of June with testing.  My kids are like that here too, off the wall.  Did you start the year earlier?  I know some schools start in August where we start after Labor day.

Well we have to work through the 28th on federal paperwork (ugh) and we do start in August. My job is a *little* different in that the govt tells us when to begin since we use Title I funds...but I cannot wait to be done. I'm thinking of ya!!!

  • We are title 1 here too.  Sounds like we have another month after you are finished for us to finish - we are done June 25th.  Do you guys work 180 days?

That's our last day too, here in Arlington - June 25th.  We work 200 days, when I taught in Rochester it was only 188, those 12 days make a difference!

  • Ummm so much where to start?

I'm irritated that way that BIL's family treats my sister. They barely put her in the obit and are already moving BIL's stuff out of the house and his funeral is TONIGHT. Can't you guys wait, at least until next week when she's back at work and doesn't have to see you guys moving stuff?

I'm sick of people telling me to not bother losing weight before getting pregnant because I'll just gain it again, why do it twice? It's so hard to explain that I'm not this way by choice and it's a health issue and lifestyle choice. I can't go into the details because they won't get it. What else am I going to do for 2 months while waiting for AF....get fatter? Suuuure that is smart. Besides I don't know very many first time mothers that have tons of time to work out and get pre-baby bodies. ?

  • I have been so tired lately. I have nearly been falling asleep in school. I keep worrying my students are going to see my eyes closed for just a little too long.

  • Star - We have 185 days with a few days built in for snow days since 180 is the state mandate for a school year.

I'm title I in a different way. :) I'm in the title I division that is where public school districts (in my case, DC) are obligated to provide equal remedial services to private schools in the district if they are in low-income neighborhoods.  So basically students need to have access to reading and math assistance just like they would in the public school but it's not provided by the school and instead the local district (most of the time bc they can't afford it). I work for a company that hires teachers that are assigned to schools. The school itself goes to mid june but we end earlier per our contract/govt $ regulations.

We have to do the same thing for the private schools in our district.  We need to provide them with all the remedial staff they need.  Those private schools get out much earlier than we do.  They also start later in the year but they don't have to comply with the state standards since they are private schools.

Yup - same thing. Many schools in upstate don't have to do this (well from my old area of Glens Falls) since there are so few private schools. Also, with DC not being a state, things get wierd. :) But yeah, since I work in a private school we don't have to follow state guidelines for school days. Mine does but the federal govt chops our contract days just for Title I staff. So school will still be in session here until June 17 but I am done the end of May. It's wierd.

Yes, I am aware, I taught in NYS for 5 years.  We had 185 school days, with three conference days for teachers, hence 188 contract days.

  • Star - is there a mandate in the DC area?  I know some states are moving to full year teaching.  I would hate that because I need time to unwind and relax so I'm not so stressed out.
