Cleaning?

This is kind of a lame post, but ....

Do you have a cleaning schedule? Whether its deliberate or not?

Basically I am wondering how I stack up to others out there in regards to keeping our house clean ... see thats the lame part.

I clean for maybe 1 or 2 hours during the week as I don't get home tell 7 or 8pm because I usually workout or volunteer after work. Then on Saturday we usually do like 3 or 4 hours of cleaning. Even doing that it feels like my house is always a disaster.

Do you clean everyday? For how long? How often do you wash your floors or clean your bathroom?

TIA

Re: Cleaning?

  • No cleaning schedule here.... we probably clean less than you by the sounds of it.

  • Every day, I sweep the floors and tidy up the kitchen (basically making sure it's in the same condition after dinner as before dinner).I also tidy and straighten out the condo before bed so that I wake up to a nice neat home. The floors just take a few mins, kitchen maybe half an hour depending on how intense the dinner prep was. Straightening everything up takes a few mins.

I dust on an as-needed basis, usually every 2-3 days - a few minutes.

Weekly, I do laundry, clean the bathroom, and mop the floors. That probably works out to about 1-2 hours.

  • I tidy up when DD naps,  about once a week I vacuum and dust while she sleeps.  On weekends I will do a more thorough cleaning.   But I think all told I probably spend just about as much time cleaning as you do!  IF DD doesn't nap, my house doesn't get clean!

I do a tiny up every other day usually, and then a big 2 hour clean of the whole house once a week. I do laundry once a week. And I do a monthly clean where I get all the stuff that I may not need to do weekly (tops of the cabinets, etc.
  • I run the roomba to vacuum weekly. That forces me pick up everything that may be on the floor. Then I wash the non-carpet flooring afterward.
I do laundry weekly since I need the clothes.
    I clean the washrooms weekly.

I use Norwex so it's super fast to clean things.
The house gets a good cleaning and organizing the week my FI comes back from his shift of work. The less cleaning we do when he's home for 3 days, the more time we have together.

  • I tidy up the kitchen every day after dinner as PP said. I also jsut tidy up...you know put things where they belong because somehow I have a cordless drill on my living room floor Tongue Tied that's about 1hr.

Once a week is laundry (because we need it) or I would have waited longer!! lol I also vacum & wash the floors & bathrooms. Dusting...well with dark furniture it's on a "how much is it driving me nuts" basis! Because doing it every month or every hour...it looks the same = dust! So average 3/4 hrs.

Once a month it's a BIG clean & organizing of everything, that takes me all day with a 3mos old.

  • No schedule, clean as needed.  Two toddlers means picking up toys and stuff constantly.  Once a week or so the entire house gets a 'straightening'.  Kitchen gets wiped down constantly.

Vacuum once a week at most.  No shoes inside the house and a recently finished driveway/parking pad (and no pets) means the carpets stay pretty clean.  Wash floors (hands and knees) once a month or so, spot clean as needed.

Bathrooms weekly-ish depending upon use (some get used more than others).

Dust when guests expected.  Sad but true.  I actually plan events to force me to deep clean and dust.

Laundry every 3rd day or so.  Potty training + 16 month old who wants to feed himself.  lol.

My husband cannot stand clutter, so he helps by keeping the junk out.  Makes a big, big difference.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
