Pregnancy ?

To those who have kids....was the first few weeks of pregnancy? always this scary and stressfull?  I feel like I'm always worried and hoping everything is ok Yesterday I actaully felt good and like my normal self and it made me panic b/c I didn't feel bad.  I feel like I can't sleep and I'm always waking up and worried.

Does this get better and how do you make yourself relax!

Re: Pregnancy ?

  • hang in there - I think once you have your appointment you'll feel better. I had my moments the whole pregnancy - I had rented a doppler and was checking his heartbeat every night until I could feel him kick.

I think the best thing you can do is be positive and keep yourself busy! I'm not going to lie - that 9 months felt like forever, but also flew by when I think back. the influx of hormones does not help!

  • Thanks :)  I'm wishing I had a ton of symptoms even though I'm early b/c atleast that would make it feel real!!  The only thing I've noticed was that I just don't want to eat, I'm not naseous, I just don't like food
  • you are at the point where it is so early there aren't symptoms...so you think you want them for reassurance....and then they come and you will become  miserable!  (although hopefully you will have minimal morning sickness)

my 1st pg i was a nervous at the beginning, this time i was able to enjoy and go with the flow.  my 2nd pg has been much easier overall so i now understand the statement that "every pg is different"

the best advice i can give is to try and enjoy the process.  it is the coolest experience in life!  your body just knows what to do so trust it :)

  • Thanks Shari!  I'm better today and trying to just enjoy the process and praying for a nice strong heartbeat in 4 weeks!!

  • I was very stressed up until my 12 wk u/s because I really didn't have awful symptoms (no m/s, etc.) but once I saw her on that screen, moving around, I got to relax just a little. I still bought the doppler and it made a world of difference for me personally.

Now that I can feel her moving around, the panicky moments are fewer and further between.

    Congrats, btw!

Thanks!  It looks like it will be a long few weeks!

  • I got the doppler around 10 wks after my doc found her hb with the office doppler, so that did help sooner.

I got the Sonotrax B from Amazon and have never had issues finding the hb.

  • I have to admit that I was a nervous wreck until I hit the 26th week mark.  I didn't breath a slight sigh of relief until that point because that's the point when my doctor said that the baby can live outside the womb and possibly go on to live a life without complications long-term.  I had a partial placenta abruption that put me at risk so I was also thinking worst case scenario.  I'm sure other mothers aren't as uneasy.

I wish you the best.  Congrats!

I might have to invest in that once I go to my 1st appt

  • my symptoms didn't start until around 6 weeks. Before that I was just tired.

I rented a doppler on bellybeats.com - I think it was around $20/month? it was the same as what they used in my OB's office. and like Kat said - I'd wait until they can find the HB in your OB office b/c it can be hard to find early on.

  • Congrats!!!!!  I was the same way....up until 12-13 wks, I don't think a day went by that I didn't think about something being wrong.  I think its normal.  I also bought a doppler.  I bought the babysounds doppler from amazon for about 38 bucks....best money ever spent!!

    Congrats again!!!!

  • The best thing you can do for yourself and for the baby is to RELAX! Just assume that everything is perfectly normal and going the way it is supposed to go until you have your appt's . That's what I did my whole pregnancy, and it really made the 9 months extremely enjoyable. Just try to focus your energy on keeping your body healthy and looking at FUN baby stuff. Start researching baby gear, nursery styles, etc.~anything to keep your mind off of the things that could go bad.

Is it always this scary and stressful? Yes, until you have the baby. Then it increases. Smile

Seriously though... first- CONGRATULATIONS! I didn't know you were expecting b/c I haven't been on this board in a long time. Second, every pregnancy is different and the best thing you can do for yourself is relax and not worry.

  • Thanks Summer!  That's what I was telling DH, if I'm this bad now I'm gonna be worse when the baby is here
  • I haven't been on here in forever so I just found out! Congrats nygirl! Your wedding looked beautiful by the way-I saw the big show on Ken's website.  Congrats again on the baby! Big Smile

You may be a lucky one that never gets any symptoms.  Besides a few other issues, I never had any morning sickness and was just tired.  I was going to bed by 7 every night.  I started getting more energy towards the third trimester.
