Home Security/Monitoring recs?

We're in the market for a home security system with monitoring. I can get free installation with ADT, just have to pay the monthly monitoring fee. Does anyone have any experience with them or any other company?

We have Cincinnati Bell's home security. The previous owner had ADT and Cincinnati Bell did not charge to come out and switch the equipment. We had to sign a 2 year contract to get our monthly rate. You have to have a CB land line which may be a problem if you only use your cell phones.

We have not had any issues with them. DH accidentally set the alarm off one morning while leaving for work. They called the house immediately and were very friendly when I told them what happened. That's the only time I've had to deal with them (fortunately!!)

We use a small, independent company that doesn't really do business this far south of Dayton, but they installed our system since my parents have been using them for 20+ years. So, unfortunately I can't recommend a company. I would warn you to see what's included in the free installation, though. Usually those deals only include a couple door sensors and maybe a couple motion sensors inside the house. That's great if that's all you feel you need, but you might want window sensors, glass-breaking sensors, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, etc.

My parents have Cincinnati Bell's home security system, they actually switched to them from ADT. My dad really likes it.

We got our alarm system through Mr. Lock in Mt. Washington. I'll be honest, though, I don't know what we pay but I could ask DH if you would like to know.
